so I just got hired at starbucks, and I am trying to figure out how to stay within the dress code without feeling too blech.

I've got the clothing down alright (there's not much I can do about that), but I really need suggestions of completely black, comfortable sneakers that are not hideous.

they're surprisingly hard to find.

ideas? neutral

p.s. chucks are not allowed.

p.p.s. any suggestions from other baristas about how-to-have-fun-w/-uniform-without-getting-fired also welcome.

I wore slightly heeled boots, or pole climber boots when I worked in coffee houses. I have 4 years experiance, and those were the best kind out of all the shoes I went through.

This is your first job isn't it? rolleyes You're going to get coffee grounds, steamed milk, syrups, and all that fun stuff all over you, I wouldn't worry much about your uniform.

lol yes

I've done a lot of messy unpaid work (such as hanging out in homeless shelters), though, and I always enjoyed dressing decently.

You're right though, I don't need to worry about it too much.

You basically need to keep your knees and ankles in mind when picking a pair of shoes for this job. I worked in a coffee shop a couple of years ago, and I wore Le Tigre tennis shoes and they were VERY comfy.

You can most likely either find a pair of black Le Tigre or Asics sneakers online just by finding their websites via Google. But REMEMBER! Arch supports are your best friends when it comes to being on your feet all the live long day. biggrin

Do they have to be sneakers? I'm assuming you just need slip-resistant shoes.

When I worked for a restaurant, I ordered some cute mary janes from Shoes for Crews. After I broke them in, they were extremely comfortable. I would even wear them when I wasn't at work, I loved them so much.

whoa, that's just messed up, just search around in the malls, like in payless!

Vivanator luvs Fluffy!!!!!
They need to feel really good on your feet, so go by feel, not style.
