PrettyPriestess I've never been hacked, but I have to say, if you feel the need to go out of your way to take my fictional items, I'm a little concerned for your social life. neutral ...Which doesn't mean I wouldn't totally cry over hours of hard work lost to one jerk across the internet. It's a really good qualification to have, especially in areas where you might have a lot of immigrants

teaching english as a foreign language - it's one of my uni modules...I get an extra international qualification once i graduate too smile

Doesn't matter if you learn it through hearing it or not, you will always be able to survive just fine on one language no matter where you are in the world (especially in the US lol) all the non-native English speaking people I know only speak English when they absolutely have to and speak their native language whenever they can (at home, in church, etc) especially the older ones. So I am also basing this off my own experiences hehe And Seamus' family is Irish so they never immigrated anywhere meaning that they would have never had to learn English, rather the people coming to Ireland would have to learn Irish. Ireland is still very much Irish. Signs aren't exclusively in English but in both English and Irish. One can survive in Ireland all their life without knowing a bit of English just like one could survive all their life in Spain without knowing it. Like I said, I am very much against people being all English English English xd and yeah I know, I do enjoy making myself work excessively hard lol btw whats a tefl lecture? мσσ∂ ∷ Geeky |

But you learn through connexionism in order to survive. When my grandparents emigrated here in the 60s they couldn't speak a word of english and now they're fluent, but they never actually tried to learn it, it just happened even though they were living in an all-asian community in london.
either way, it's your own thing and it's cool that you're going the extra mile....it's my tefl lectures coming through |

bittsweetmis That's what's made me give up on reading fanfics, I still write though. My biggest hate is the authors that blatantly remodel an existing character so much that they become an OC. That's what's made me give up on reading fanfics, I still write though. My biggest hate is the authors that blatantly remodel an existing character so much that they become an OC. Unfortunately, it's all inescapable.

Sure you can't escape it but that doesn't mean you have to know it razz it is exactly the same as Mexican people who come into the US. English is all around them but some still can't speak it or understand it well even after years of living/working here. In truth I dislike people who are all english english english... just because its one of the big names in language doesn't mean everyone knows it or should know it hehe French people are right near England but do they speak English? Are all their signs in English? Are they all bilingual? Do they have to learn English at all? Nope hehe I prefer to keep the French French and the Irish Irish xd мσσ∂ ∷ Geeky |

I wouldn't expect Seamus' mum not to be able to understand that much English, being bilingual seems more appropriate for someone who's middle aged in the UK. No matter where you go here, you can't escape the English language.
Once you know how to learn languages, they're okay, even Japanese... I should know, I have three on the go sweatdrop |
