Welcome to Gaia! ::

My hypothesis is as follows:

-My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is awesome
-Black Ops (not the game) stuff is awesome
-Harry Potter is awesome
-Therefore a mix of the three must be awesome

As such, I'm writing a fic about... well, pretty well just that. I'm only at about 3k words right now, and I'm still doing the setup for the rest of the story.
Anyway, it focuses on the Cutie Mark Crusaders. If anyone is interested, give it a look!

Also, I may be new to fanfiction in particular, but I've been a writer for a while now. I can take criticism, and if there's something you feel I'm doing a poor job of I would love it if you let me know.

I don't get Bronies. At first I thought adolescent and post-adolescent males were just being "ironic" when they professed to love a show clearly aimed at young girls, but then I realized they were serious.

I'm not hatin', I just wish to comprehend.
I like the innocence of it, in part.
I was really cynical. Starting to get prematurely bitter and all that. I won't go into the details, but when I found MLP I found what turned out to be the nicest community on the internet, along with a charming show with actually respectable morals.

Also, I've always been a fan of sword and sorcery, and holy crap this show delivers in spades. Ancient madgods, Several dragons, a cockatrice (how often do you even hear about those?), a manticore, a sea serpent, and bears the size of mountains whos flesh is the darkness between the stars.
All this and more, they have had in the show. It blends cuteness that induces the warm-fuzzies with awesome action and adventure. It also tosses out lots of references to stuff kids wouldn't get. Heck, just last week there was a reference to Back to the Future, and we've already had references to The Big Lebowski, Godzilla, King Kong and more.

If you haven't watched it before, it's worth a look. The first few episodes don't do it for everyone, but once you get going with it you'll get captivated.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I didn't get it either, then a brony insisted a buddy of mine watch it and he made me watch with him. At first, it was okay, then the next thing I know we're half way through the first season and neither of us wanted to stop.

It was surprisingly good, with well rounded characters and humor that doesn't talk down to it's audience. The plot lines are decent and even though they do have little lessons in them, they don't beat you over the head with them and the animation is really good for being flash. As mentioned before they also sneak in a lot of references that will at least get a grin out of most older people.

This guy explains it pretty well in the first three minutes. After that it's not really important, just a tangent about tattoos and conservative haters.

Honestly though, I think it's something you have to be willing to give a try, or it's just not going to do anything for you.
