At 9:30 am, a young woman walked down the halls of John Hopkins Cancer Center intent on visiting the children's ward today. She was not a medical professional, nor a worried parent or family member. Neither was she a teacher for one of the cancer patients. She was simply a visitor who often visited to volunteer her time and bring a round of relief to those who were most innocent.

She used a wheel chair to push in a plastic tub marked Tub of Wonder… and quietly began setting up shop inside the ward. On the far end of the room she unpacked her tub of wonder. Pulling out of it several rather large plush blankets. This covered the floor, and onto of it went another to keep it warmed for the little ones who would join her there. She threw around a few pillows and finally pulled out a book as big as the box was long.

Some of the children who were watching giggled as she seemed to struggle with the odd overly large story book. She smiled at their soft amusement.
As she finished several nurses stepped into the ward and stood back watching as she approached each child, softly introduced herself to them. Took their hand in both of hers and sat them up in their beds. Those children who were rather ill she spent a little extra time with. Speaking to them softly. She was engaging, and gentle, and amazingly, by the end of her circle around the room, every child had found the power to make it to the floor nurses helped those with medicine and IV's.

They were all clustered there around her, as she read the book, their faces showing great interest as her voice drew them deeper into the story of a knight and a princess. The nurses too were rather drawn by her story of love and life lessons learned.

Even those nurses had been given a plush animal to hold, a weighted animal with substance. An expensive gift when you bought it for thirty children. The animal was soft and filled with rice in its butt paws and feet. It helped it remain seated when put on a flat surface, and gave substance to a child who hungered for life…

Some time during the story a dark shadow entered the back side of the room, standing at a distance as her story of wonder and happy endings came to a close. The young woman closed the overly large book and looked at her enamored audience.
"Thank you for listening to me today. I hope to come visit you again, would you like that?" She asked; every one of them nodded.
"Good, I would like that as well. Keep your stuffed animals for next weeks story alright?"

The nurses gave aid again as they had in the beginning, the children were quiet as they were placed into the beds. IV's arranged, and blankets settled once more. While the nurses fussed with the children who could not move on their own, the patient dark shadow moved forward.

A tall woman with rich dark hair, and gleaming green eyes. She looked at the woman on the floor with an expression that was nothing but love.
"Am I late?" She asked in a soothing tone.

"Never." The storyteller replied with the same look of love in tired eyes.
It hadn't been more than an hour the entire story had taken place, but the differences between the storyteller then, and the story teller now was truly night and day. Neither said anything, no words were necessary as they had done this many a time before.

When all their things were packed up to go it was the tall dark haired woman who said good by to the kids telling them to say good bye to their story teller.

"You look like you overdid it." The brunette took the box being held by her gentle story teller and set it into the back of their truck.
"Excuse me!" A nurse cried as she came trotting out to the truck.
"Excuse me Ma'am, you forgot to sign the visitors log."
"Oh, sorry about that." A broad and vibrant scrawl said Fang… The nurse looked at it and smiled.
"Thank you so much, for what you have both done today."

"Oh, I didn't do anything." Fang said in a gentle drawl as she returned the board. The woman smiled big at them both and would have remained watching them pack the truck but what came next was a bit private.

"Well, you had better head back, don't want to make them kids worry." Fang said.
"yes, you are right. See you later."

Lightning sighed having struggled with holding her head up.

"As I said, you over did it…" Fang came around Lightnings wheel chair double checking the roll locks before she lifted her out of it and into their pickup.
"It was necessary."
"Its always necessary." Fang replied gently taking Lightnings chin in her hands.
"It is." Lightning replied as she stared into Fangs worried eyes.
"I prepared for this." She leaned in and brushed lips with the hollow eyed distant expressed Lightning.
"No…" A hand came to Fangs chest and pressed her back. But she leaned into that weak resistance and kept her lips there soft and inviting.
"You promised." Fang said, insistent.
"Just a little, to take the edge off." She felt vindicated when Lightning grinned.
"You make it sound like a stiff drink."
"I can do stiff…" Fang softly growled as their lips connected and life flowed between them.

Lightning shuddered as the vibrant energy that was her life partner flowed between them.

A knock on the door drew blue eyes up and a hand down. From her place at the table the young woman called for the person knocking on her door to enter.
"It's open." Fingers found the knife secured under the table, they tensed as the door opened and a little soul peered in with a smile on his face.
"Ms. Farron." He said as he entered, pulling his cap off.
Her hand paused as she eyed the neighbors child.
"Hello Airon, what can I do for you?" He walked up to the table and stood before her, his little hand coming up with something in it, filling her with dread... it was not above her enemies scruples to make even a child as young as him their pawn. Her hand caressed the cold comforting metal of the knife under the table as he presented her with an envelope. A baited breath escaped parted lips.

The tension that plagued her was well earned, in the last week she had several close brushes with the PSICOM, their blood was on her hands... not that that fact particularly bothered her... any man who blindly obeyed was as guilty as his masters in her books.

Back to the matter at hand she asked him gently.
"What's this Airon?" He looked to the envelope with a curious expression and that charming little boys smile.
"A man asked me to give it to you." He turned the envelope over and she saw the red seal embossed with a dagger upon it.
"Can I have the seal? It's neat!" He said with a grin. Light reached for the letter from her contact and pulled the knife from the table sliding it under the embossed seal.
"How about we trade for a cookie instead?" The chances of the wrong people learning the little boy had the red seal was probably as great as a Pulsian becoming an officer in the Cocoon military.

Airon seemed to contemplate the trade for a long time, his little brow furrowed.
"Three cookies." He said holding up two fingers." She raised a brow at his negotiating before chuckling.
"Okay, three." She said holding up two fingers. For a moment the letter was tucked away so she might retrieve the cookies that was his pay. When next she saw her contact she would have to chastize him for using the little boy. Their enemies might see nothing wrong with endangering a child, but she would not have it on her conscious.

Returning with treats in hand she gave him a cookie for each hand.
"Come on, I will take you back to mommy." She paused to scoop up the letter just to be sure it was not taken, tucking it into a safe place on her person, she directed te little boy back outside.

"Maya." Lightning called when they both had managed the steps to her home. The boys mother was standing at the end of her drive with a hand on her brow, a worried expression on her face. Relief washed over the young womans face as she rushed forward scooping the child into her arms.

"Airon! you had mommy so worried!"
"Thank you Claire! I was beside myself." Claire smiled and reached out a hand to tousle his hair.
"I am sorry to frighten you, he wandered in." The child looked only partially contrite about his mothers worry, might have been the cookie he had crumbling on his face and half eaten in his hand.

"Don't be too hard on him." She said .

They conversed for a short time about the hot weather, and the shortage of goods... the absence of men, and the likley hood that Jeice would return from the war. Lightning slowly walked Maya to the end of her drive and down the side walk towards her own house as she once again reassured the woman that it was highly unlikely her husband would ever see more action than the coffee rush on supply day.

By the time she stood at her neighbors front door Maya most likely had forgotten all about her scare due to Airons temporary disappearance, and all the proof of his foray was already consumed. Claire left them happily on the top step of their home, her mind was already on the envelope from her contact.

She paused on the step of her home and let blue eyes scan the streets for anything out of place. One of the benefits of living in a quiet neighborhood was you knew who belonged... still one could never be too cautious.

Moving inside, afforded her the privacy to read the letter sent her at last. A letter written in code, a code she was so familiar with her mind translated it with out trouble.

Presence requested.
High level target located.

Date, time, location and required attire for her task was included, as well as the usual note to burn this letter in its entirety... that included the red seal with its dagger embossing. Moving to the stove she flicked the burner over and caught the paper on fire, dropping it into the sink to let it burn with out malice.

The Op...

The day of her task she received another letter out of the blue, same envelope, same red seal... after struggling to get herself noticed by the right people, and have her invited to the gala, she was perturbed that it might be a call off of her task. But it proved to be something even stranger. A meeting, seemed she was not working this task solo as was her usual. Also the target, a high ranking official of Cocoon was to be collared and brought into a Unification black sight. Most of the people they had her track down were those they wanted dead... this would be her first living tag... perhaps that was the reason they thought she would need backup.

It didnt matter... she would get this done... she would get it done for Serah...

Claire sat impatiently for her escort, a lower ranking officer who had liked the rich little debutant who had shown interest in him at the last social gathering he had been at. A bubbly blonde with eyes as blue as the sky.

She drummed fingers against her arm which were crossed under her breasts. The man was late, Barns, a vain man who wanted a pretty woman on his arm... a woman who did not challenge his intellect and stroked his male ego... She was alright with the stroking as long as it was his ego...

A knock on her door and she sighed schooling her face slipping into the persona she created just for this evening.
Rainin, a visiting debutant whos family riches were from the ever popular and coveted Nautilus.

Sergent Barns smiled when he saw Ms. Rainin. A woman who seemed to be less brains and all beauty, just his type... He presented her with flowers. she looked at them a moment her surprise at his empty gesture clearly written on her face. He beamed even more at her obvious shock. Since meeting Rainin he had been feeling mighty lucky, if his luck held out, he would be taking her back to this hotel room and bedding her... Gods he loved simple women.

"You brought me flowers?" She asked as if she was unsure of what to do with them.
"Yes ma'am I did. but even they could not equal your beauty." He reached a hand up to push a lock of blonde hair back from her face. Her bidy tightened with that fight or flight reflex, and Sergent Barns simply did not know how close he came to loosing that hand... clean up to the arm. Only the thought of blood on her evening wear stayed her hand.

"Excuse me, let me set these on the counter." She said and moved off to place the flowers. She made a girlish giggling noise before returning to him. Then pausing she placed a finger to her lips, instantly his eyes went to her mouth.
"I think I am forgetting something." He tore his eyes away from her mouth, rising to those blue eyes. He smiled and looked her over, his eyes running over her body.
"Your purse?"
"Thats it!" She said and giggled pulling away from him to retrieve her clutch.
"It's a bit chilly out, what about a jacket?"
"Yes, my shawl." She said and gave a nervous giggle.

Some days just aren't what you expect them to be. Everything you know changes and you are left with two choices.
"You have no authority here, you need to leave."
"I am getting on this train."
"The Guardian Corps are not required to board the train. You need to report to your C.O. and get the hell off my dock."
"I resign my commission."
"What?"
"You heard me I resign."
"Do you know where this train is going soldier?"
"I have been informed."
"You know what, to hell with it… hand over your weapons and submit to collaring." Her hand didn't even pause as she drew the weapon from its scabbard and handed it to the PSICOM goon.
"Corporal… collar this one… no need to be gentle about it." A second PSICOM soldier came up looking at the pink haired soldier who just resigned herself to the purge train. Blue eyes looked to the shorter man and narrowed.
"This way." He said and motioned for Lightning to proceed him to be processed and put into her very own control cloak and set as one of the other sheep upon the train.
"You, rookie, put this antiquated, quaint piece of s**t on the train… we wont be needing it… make sure it gets put on the transports with the rest of the trash at the space port…"
"Yes Sir."
Lightning made note of the PSICOM rookie that took Blazefire before she headed to the processing center where she willingly submit to being clothed in a control cloak.
"You're a Guardian and you willingly decided to join us?" A black man with puffy hair looked over at her. She stood in line waiting to be seated on the train.
"Why would you do something like that?" He asked her as they shuffled forward. Light shook her cowled head not wanting to discuss her decision making with a stranger.
"You know the hell they sending us to, if i had a free pass you wouldn't see me here."
"I'm not you…" She growled to him and stepped onto the train. Her eyes adjusted to the light on the train and she looked at the occupants in the car looking for the reason she did this.
"Keep moving." One of the PSICOM soldiers turned the butt of their gun against her lower back and she staggered forward under the pain that he created. She stood up ready to lash out at him but a black face appeared in her haze and he pushed her forward.
"Now is not the time to start a fight… incase you forgot were collared."

Muscles flexed testing the electronic locks of her collaring cloak and they remained steadfast.
"Take a seat in the furthest open spot, hurry it up some of us got lives to get to…" Light blew a frustrated breath and took a seat. Serah was on this damn train… they were going to be moved to the sky port and then transferred to Pulse… that would require a few transports… she would need to find her sister before they began separating them at the sky port or her little sister might be lost to her for a long time.

They worked on filling up the car and when it was done only one armed PSICOM remained, he carried an automatic weapon and a control device for their cloaks…

"Serah?" More than one head raised up as she said that name, the cowls were to far down to see the same blue eyes they shared.
"Shut up… no talking." The PSICOM creep walked up the path of the car looking at those left in his care.
"Boy are you sorry unlucky bastards…" He laughed through his alien face plate, taking joy from their predicament. Lightning ignored him searching those who had responded to her sisters name. Looking for anything that singled her little sister out.
She leaned to the side when the PSICOM soldier stopped blocking her view. One of the other purgees did the same leaning to see around the soldier and Lightning knew there was her little sister. "What are you doing?" The black man asked her.
"Scoot over."
"What?" He asked at her whisper.
"Scoot down."
"Why?"
"This…" Lightning said. She swept her feet out catching the PSICOM by his ankles, and twisted her body into that of her neighbors. The armed soldier went down. She rolled off his lap as the mans arms flailed striking anything and everything on his way down. It was only a matter of seconds that she caught the soldiers head in the only thing they didn't have control over… her legs.

It didn't really matter how strong he was then… by the time she had him in her legs he was as good as unconscious. He clawed at the cloak and tried to find purchase as he gasped for breath, but she squeezed harder. His struggles grew weaker and finally he went slack in her grasp.

There were shocked voices and worried whispers, but Lightning ignored them as she kicked herself out from under the soldier. She pawed at his uniform until the control mechanism that held their control cloaks was in her possession. Finding her feet she moved to the other side of the train.
"You, go sit over there." She said tapping some one with her toe, the person nearest her sister. They got up quickly walked around the soldier and took her seat where she had been by the black man.

"What are you doing?" Serah asked as her elder sister sat down beside her hiding the control device in her lap.
"I think you know…" Light said. Serah looked down at the man on the ground and then back to her sister.
"Thank you for coming…" Serah said and lay her head down on Lights shoulder. Light sighed. She would do anything for what remained of her family that meant breaking all the rules. Including assaulting one of Cocoon's elite… Angry blue eyes watched the man on the floor as the train doors closed, and their home faded behind them on the way to the hanging edge where the sky port waited. When he showed any signs of waking up she kicked him again.
"You're going to kill him." This from her first neighbor. Light looked up with those angry eyes at him.
"Kill him! I barely even bruised him! And so be it if he dies, he's sending us to hell, you think he gives a drop from a Long Gui about us?"

The dark man's face tensed and he looked to the soldier again, the man groaned. It was her first neighbor who kicked him back into dream land this time. She grunted and leaned back against her seat and waited… her emotions some what settled as her sisters head remained pressed against her shoulder.
