If you step one toe into the Merlin (TV Series) section of Fanfiction you are trampled to death by Arthur/Merlin. Same for Supernatural, and Sherlock. And that's perfectly fine. Popular Shipping are written more often. Just because they're not my favourite doesn't mean no one else can like it.

Here's the problem-

What is wrong with these writers?

1) Whoever invented M-Preg needs to commit themselves to a mental institute. In fact anyone who writes it should as well. I just don't get it. I understand Gender-Swap pregnancy, because the character is a woman. But a Man giving birth? Where is this child gonna come out of? His a**s? Because that is the only place that came into contact with Sperm, and is hypothetically large enough to pass something like that. Men can't pass a stone without feeling intense pain, and you expect him to pass a 4-7 pound child? I should not feel the need to describe the basic male anatomy to all of these people.

2) Whoever invented RPF needs to be locked in Solitary Confinement for the rest of eternity, as does anyone who writes it. FanFiction is okay to a point. If it is being used as a writing tool in order to develop your skills, then fine! But who in there right mind writes Real Person Fiction? It's like asking two people on the street their names then writing a novel about them. It's weird, and whatever is possessing people to write it need to be exorcised from their soul and killed with fire.

I can't be the only person who has an issue with these? Or am I just missing something?

You don't need to bump your thread unless it falls off the first page. This is a slow forum and continuously bumping will not make people respond any faster.

To the topic at hand... eh... I have no real strong opinions of M-preg. There have been professionally published works that contain male-pregnancy, so its not a purely fan fiction theme. The deciding factor for me is more the WAY in which its done rather than it being done at all.

Oh, I'm not worried about 'Bumping' it up in the thread, as it were. It's just makes it easier for me to find my threads if I have a comment on it.
Sometimes I write m-preg where the character turns out to be hermaphrodite.Somehow it seems more likely than a male for me. Now I honestly don't know if hermaphrodites can really give birth and I really and truly don't want to know.

At any rate, I just like the trials and tribulations of pregnancy leading up to that point. And people can write whatever they want, as long as 'magic' is involved, it doesn't have to make any kind of realistic sense. Like for example, how can people turn into werewolves, vampires, etc? Magic. Just magic, period. No explanation about how their stomach becomes able to digest blood thanks to a chemical compound in their stomach acid , whatever.

It's called "willing suspension of disbelief" and as long as a story operates within that, it's cool.

Also, I truly dislike RPF. If only because real people are as boring as sin.

That would be a bit difficult since M-preg has been around, in some form or another, since the time of the Greek and Norse gods, probably longer. Though not usually quite the same as a woman does it, it stands that Athena was born from Zeus' head without help from a woman. It should be noted that Hephaestus sprung from Hera's thigh with no male influence in his creation.

The Loki thing was more in line with gender-bending, which the Norse played with a lot, he birthed Slepnir after turning himself into a mare and having a good time with a giant's stallion.

I'd point out that women are generally in a s**t load of pain when they give birth too, so that's kind of a strange thing to complain about in this case. Sure it's got a high risk of tearing, but that tends to happen to women too when they give birth, so the risk wouldn't be something that is new to birthing, though it would definitely be higher(or even a given) for a man.

I'd be more worried about the health risks associated with birthing though a spot that is a essentially a waste disposal for the body. Bacteria are teaming in the rectum and a baby is easily acceptable to getting sick. I would also worry about the pelvis placement and damage to the fetus from being pressed through something that was not designed to adapt to such an event. Women's pelvis' actually widen in preparation to give birth due to various naturally occurring hormones. I don't think a guy's pelvis would be nearly as accommodating. Not to mention all the other little internal and external spots on women that are adaptable that either don't exist in a man, like a cervix, which is kind of important.

There's always C-sections, I guess. Or magic v****a's when they can get away with it.

Hermaphrodites are generally completely sterile, with only a handful having one set of sexual organs that are fully developed and functioning, so one getting pregnant would kind of be incredibly rare.

There are actually many different reasons for M-preg, whether trying to equalize men and women, make men out to be superior, to establish the traditional nuclear family as a means of justifying homosexually in the fic, or just simply for the lulz. (I personally find it hilarious.) It's been in many published works and in mainstream media, so it's not really just a fanfic thing.

Real Person fanfiction bother's me too, but I just ignore it. The only time I'd say someone should be institutionalized for it is if they stop being able to tell reality from their personal fantasy and start projecting their fanfic version onto the actual person. Just because the idea of writing a false account of the life of a real person without their consent is one of my squicks, that doesn't mean others can't enjoy it.

That is true. Greek myths did have a lot of strange ways in which a new God was born. (Let's not forget the...Erm...Interesting sequence of events that lead up to Aphrodite's birth.)

However, I was thinking more in terms of the, throwing out a bone here, Queer as Folk "Justin gets pregnant and no one thinks it's strange and considers it normal" type scenarios, rather than the "Magic is involved and everyone is confused, or it is part of their culture and always accepted" type things. I would not mind so much if that was the case.

True. However a v****a is stretchy, and made to give birth to children. An a**s/a p***s was not, and would cause more pain, if not death, then with a woman.

That was another issue I had where the internal organs between a man and woman are different. A fetus could not survive, let alone grow inside a man.

Even if it is a C-Section. the organs are still different. "Magic v****a's" I just choked on my soda... That is hilarious.

I didn't know that. That's interesting. I never thought about whether they could have children or not.

There are a lot of reasons for writing an M-Preg FanFiction, but more commonly I find people write it simply because they want to include a child in a Slash pairing. If it's written as a parody, it can be Side Splitting! But if it is written as a Heart-Wrenching, Sob-Story-Drama, something is just missing.

The pagan myth lesson was just a response to you wanting the person who first came up with to go to the loony bin. They are kind of all already very dead. sweatdrop

It is head scratching when someone uses M-preg for a series that is suppose to take place in the real world. I've see it pop up in searches for CSI and House. It's never a good sign when the category alone breaks my suspension of disbelief, but for series like HP or other magic/advanced science shows I just think it's funny even when the author is being serious. Actually, the more serious the author is about it the funnier it is to me. But then I nearly died from laughing while reading My Immortal, so ymmv.

Never mind the lack of appropriate organs to give birth, but a man's immune system would destroy the zygote cells as soon as they entered the body because they would view it as an attacking organism. I could go on because there are countless reasons it wouldn't work. But, you know, a wizard did it, so it's all okay. rolleyes

You would be surprised at how far the a**s can stretch and what it can accommodate given the right preparation time and bizarre enough sexual fantasies. Newborns aren't really all that big, from what I was able to find average shoulder width seems to be around 4 to 5". And that's the biggest part of the baby.

Answers.com has this to say "In theory it is possible to stretch an a**s as far as a v****a, anatomy of the bones is the only obstruction." It then goes on to list how, but I stopped reading because I don't really want to know. I also would not recommend trying it because it can get damaged and/or permanently stuck like that, and require invasive surgery to fix it, but it's not likely to kill you if taken care of properly. The things I look up for Gaia threads, I tell you. This probably won't be the weirdest.

The wanting a child for the yaoi/slash couple goes along with the nuclear family setup. Your life is not fulfilled unless you have produced offspring. It's utter tripe in my opinion, but many people adhere to it without realizing.

That's a tad..harsh to think someone should be committed to an insane asylum for writing mpreg.
Fun fact though, I saw a dude once push out something as big as a baby, so, it is possible for something that large to exit the a**s.

Perhaps, but I have heard a lot worse directed towards a lot less.

This isn't a discussion it's a one-sided opinion, stated in such a way that any contradictions to you will be viewed as an attack. So, heads up, not attacking.

If I were a few years younger I'd be offended by what you wrote, but as it stands I have no energy for it. I'm just a little upset because I know most people think this way and that's why I have to feel weird when I share my interests with my friends and I have to keep stock of how much their opinion of me will drop.

M-preg is silly in my opinion, but it doesn't bother me. (Nothing bothers me really-you write porn professionally for two years and we'll see what bothers you.) But I don't think you should bash on it. You could end up hurting someone's feelings. It's just a fetish like everything else. There are people that are really turned on by lampshades, who are you to judge? As long as the stories are marked properly, you shouldn't complain, just ignore it. It really isn't hard, I do it constantly.

On the RPF I used to be on your side. Then I found a fandom which appealed to me and it got me hooked on other RL pairings. It's no different than the average fanfic. I mean, it's still fiction, it didn't happen and unless an author actually knows the person (really well I might add) they are still fabricating the character. Sure, if Jensen Ackles kindly asked his fans not to slash him as his RL self, I'd respect that, but most of the actors and such are aware or are becoming aware, and they simply don't care. I'm happily married, but if I were famous and people wanted to slash me I wouldn't care. In fact I'd be really amused, as long as they didn't plan on stalking me or something. xp
Basically, it doesn't hurt anyone, so why does it bother you?
