Talk about your first post... 3nodding

This is pretty much an introduction story-like post for people who havn't known about Halo.

Delerium [Prologue]

"There are those who said this day would never come; What are they to say now?"

The artificialized voice rang through the whole room, making already the seemingly endless dreadful situation worse. Numerous screens showing tactical information, command personnel in other places attending the briefing through a terminal, and the main screens, which held the most bearing sight of all.

Destruction.

In space, purple sharklike ships surrounded the formerly controlled planet Mars, which no one in the room doubted would be destroyed soon. The armada known only as the Covenant had destroyed billions of lives already and hundreds if not thousands of colonies and inhabited planets by plasma bombardment, with lightyears advanced technology ahead of the current, for now, terran interstellar government, the United Nations Space Command. The first sighting of the Covenant was at the far-reach colony Harvest, where the first and only communication between the aliens and humans had emitted, the Transmission, saying that the war was the will of thier gods to destroy humanity.

And just like that, destruction aroused everywhere with near-unstoppable fleets. Few isolated victories and massive victories were of course done by the UNSC, but with massive losses. Already most Outer Colonies had been destroyed and controlled Inner Colonies were already being bombarded. Major research planets like Sigma Octanus had been glassed, and lately military installations including the mighty Reach, only on the doorstep of the Solar System. Reach had held the best defenses in the UNSC universe second only to Earth, and had been destroyed within five hours of the Covenant sightings which included multiple famous battlefleets and Super MAC Guns, and a giant defensive operation.

Earth's defenses were only two fold of that, and powered lastly by the planned last 'bang' defensive, with the newly developed Nova weapons. Powerful enough to crack two planets in half, if things were bad, the Novas were to be used in defense ahead of the Moon; If the moon were to be glassed, waters would be out of control on Earth's surface, thus already ensuring a defeat for the Earth forces.

The man in the middle of the main command table seated at the briefing in HighCom Omega on planet Earth, who was Admiral Mu La Flaga. A tactical master for the UNSC which was a former mobile armor pilot for front-line tactical forces, he was now one of the remaining top-command personnel which had survived the might of the Covenant bombardments.

Admiral Flaga was silent, still going over the war in his mind while murmurs were going around the personnel present.

He looked at the main display; The Covenant were charging up, readying for a plasma bombardment of Mars, as expected. Evacuation ships were being brought up the other rear end of the planet but Covenant Seraphs the size of a troop-transport were already heading to intercept them. The low millimeter weapons placed on the ships wouldn't stand a chance, and neither did the UNSC fleet stationed on Mars hours before.

Wait a minute.

He looked at the charging weapons while Patriot X surface-to-air/space missiles were being fired from high air platforms to the Covenant ships. The shields wern't active, and every hit was taken, though only small damage was caused if any to the giant beamoths, and more cruiser units were being dispatched to take out the platforms from a distance.

This was very suspicious - The Covenant in any campaign were never known to lower shields in an engagement, even plasma bombardments. But then again, bombardments before were never able to be put on media com signals besides Reach, and everything was being hit in a millenia then. Now, they could possibly exploit thier -

"Emergency, sector five-six-zero!" The voice rang in everyone's ears, and it came from a watch position only kilometers away from the moon. The voice was cut out in seconds along with the unit, probably by a plasma firing.

"No, no, NO!" A person next to Admiral Flaga slammed his hands on the table, "This CAN'T be happening!" Brigadier General McCallen was furious, and his face was getting red.

As Admiral Flaga thought - Mars was only a diversion. He went on his monitor and tried zooming in from the Moon diaframed camera and pinpointed the termination source.

"My God," he mumbled. It was an entire battlefleet or more of Covenant ships.

"This was unexpected," the foremost Artificial Intelligence construct said blantantly. Even SMART-level AIs were known to annoyingly state the obvious.

Thier worst fears came true. They were all doomed...
