Let's start the killing. Start the killing.
Let's have a wedding. A wedding.

Oh yes, this is a mule but it's not really a mule.
Or is it?

hey guys sorry I haven't written in awhile, I will update soon I promise! I just had my appendix out so it will be a few days before I recover but I didn't forget this story!

chapter 3 Jasper part 3

Two weeks had passed and I hadn't heard or even seen Luci. I tried to hide my deep disappointment, but Edward could sense it. He didn't know why, thankfully. Often he'd ask me what was wrong or he would try to ensure me that I had nothing to fear. I tried to convince him that I was fine, but my demeanor proved otherwise.

Jasper eventually found the stone. Since then he never came out of his room. Alice said that he just laid on the floor staring at the ceiling, holding it firmly in his hand. Day in day out, he never moved. She said he didn't look distressed or anything of that nature, but of course he worried her. She said she had begged him to say something to her, to do something, but he wouldn't acknowledged her. Same with Carlisle and the others, he would just lie there still and placid.

Along with missing Luci, I felt guilt for having caused Jasper's state of mind. What was the stone's significance? Why did it make him as unresponsive as a vegetable? Why did Luci want him have the stone? When I saw him, once, with Alice's permission, the answers seemed so far away as Jasper did. Whatever the reasons for it all, I wanted it to stop. The only way any of it would stop was for Luci to finally see Jasper.

One day, as Edward was driving me to his house, we finally saw Luci. Out of no where she jumped in front of the Volvo, shaking the gravel of the road, and causing Edward to slam on his breaks. Luckily, for us, we didn't hit her. She looked taller, fiercer, impatient more like. Edward remained in the car and unlocked his seat belt so that he could hover over me. Luci stood there, unimpressed and unamused. She locked eyes with Edward, and for the first time, truly, I feared her.

"Take me to Jasper Edward," she demanded, "I'm sick of this game. If I wanted to I could eradicate your clan, but I won't, I want you to take me to him."

"Then it seems you have a problem," Edward said as he yelled through the windshield, "because we are not going to let you see him."

"If you don't, I will make her one of us," she pointed to me, "I know how you want her to remain human, but if I don't see Jasper now I will turn her."

Edward nearly shook. He held me tighter against his chest, wrapping his neck with mine. He kissed my jaw bone under my ear, and then walked out of the car. Face to face, toe to toe, the two of them stood right in the middle of the road. Both of them were the same height, and had the same grim expression. I held my knees, too scared to step out and stop what ever was to happen. But no, fear wasn't the real reason for my hesitation. I realized as I sat there that I couldn't choose a side. I loved them both. Not necessarily equally, but Luci promised to turn me, she promised everlasting life with the one I love. Edward promised my humanity, to which I would gladly give away, but I knew he was no match for Luci, and that scared me. Would she really hurt him? No, only enough to turn me without his interference. But the thought of Edward hurt at all pained me.

"You win," Edward said softly, and I couldn't believe my ears, "I'll take you to him."

I should have known, Edward would risk anything to keep me human, even his brother's life. Though, of course, I knew Luci wasn't going to hurt Jasper, but still had she been a real threat would I have forgiven Edward? I didn't think I could answer that, ever. Only if that were to occur could I assess that.

Luci opened the car door herself as Edward returned to the driver's seat. I turned around to face Luci, who had a new-found smile on her face, and also smiled.

"Turn around," Edward commanded, almost angrily, and I obeyed, but before so I shrugged and met Luci's eyes with a grin.

As we drove, I thought to myself, finally now all of this can be solved. But I shuttered to think what Alice and the others were going to do.
