People like vampires for the same reason theat they like any monster; because they find a power there that they wish they had. Something they wish they could get to, but is out of reach because of human limitations. I mean, who wouldn't want to be able to fly? To shape shift at will to a thing that flies through the night? To be feared by another with just a simple look? To have control? Everything a vampire is said to have over humans. It is the same with all evil creatures.
