QUESTIONS:
1. Who constitute as families? Are divorced families required to own two? What about separated ones? What about, not officially married, but living together (like some LGBT relationships)? What if you're a college student living across the country from your parents, do you need a separate launcher?
2. Which rocket launcher would you choose? How much does it cost?
3. How will low income families be able to afford it? Are they exempt from the law if they can't? Are you going to instigate some sort of government program to help the low income families afford their rocket launchers? How much would that cost to taxpayers?
4. You mentioned a program for educating people. How are you going to track down the people who refuse to be educated? What will you do to the people who refuse the education? How much would the program cost to taxpayers?
5. How severe a crime would not having a rocket launcher be? Would it be a felony, or a minor misdemeanor? Would there be jail time involved? Bail? Fines? How much would the fines be? What about people who can't pay the fines because they couldn't afford the rocket launcher? Would the crime have to go through a court of law? How much money would it cost to revise the legal system to incorporate such an idea?

I'm not a hoplophobe. I'm all in favour of choice. I'm also in favour of keeping my damn money and not giving it to taxes.

With the military spread as far out as it is now, the only thing standing in the way is the police/FBI/CIA/SWAT, and there's not even that many of them. Get everyone together, grab the closest weapon you can get your hands on, and fight.

Screw 'em. They wouldn't be able to get a rocket launcher, or to live without being hassled, without joining the militia.

Fines, of course. Also, they wouldn't be able to be employed or pretty much have any kind of means of living their life without joining the militia. And the legal system is being revised all the time- it was revised for and after the "assault weapons" ban, it can be revised for rocket launchers.

You already give a lot more for each stealth bomber and hundred thousand dollar rifle systems in the military than you ever would buying each able man and woman a simple RPG-7.

You do realize those things can shrug off even a few rockets, right? No crowbar or hunting rifle is getting through something like that.

Tanks are only good long range. Get close enough and they're harmless. 'Sides, not everyone is gonna have a rocket launcher anyways, so you have to make due. Also a rocket launcher is a one-time-use projectile weapon. It's garbage whether you hit the target or not.

Now I'm confused. Where is this taking place, Switzerland? Or are we just adopting their system? But Switzerland doesn't have laws that demand possession of guns. I think what you're trying to do is wholly unprecedented. So really, the questions are still unanswered. One more question that occurs to me, are you allowed more than one rocket launcher? Or is it one max per family.

And srsly, how tyrannical can the American government get? You've got your basic rights guaranteed in the freaking constitution. In Canada, a province, not even the country, but a province, can override your rights to freedom of expression. Plus, politicians would never do anything to hurt potential voters.

No, but with 100,000,000 americans with rocket launchers and scattered throughout the land that the tyrant wants to keep, it's not like they can just bomb us. Also, I don't care how good your defenses are, they're not going to stand up to thousands of rocket launchers.

If there was a tyrant in power, do you really think they'd hesitate to kill millions to maintain that power? As long as we don't launch missles outside our own borders, all the UN will do is place economic sanctions on us, and send peace keepers for us to kidnap. One third of one's people is a small price for nigh-unstoppable power.
