When is it right to hit a woman?

How many of you have heard the story of what happened between Jayde Nicole and Joe Francis? Well here's the short verson of what happened, Joe Francis was hitting on a friend of both Jenner (her boyfriend) and Nicole. When Francis became very persistent, Jayde Nicole threw her drink on Francis. He then pulled Jaydes hair, punched her in the face, threw her to the ground, and then started kicking her (and yes this is true, there is security footage).

So my questions to you are...

1. Did Fancis have right to do that?
2. When is it acceptable to hit a woman?

I saw some comments and responses about it on places like youtube and wanted to know what you think.

In my opinion, he did not have the right to do that to her. She poored a drink on him, he has the right to poor a drink on her (plus it would be more classy then what he did), nothing more. Not because she is a girl, but because she is a human being. What she did was wrong, but all she did was poor a drink on him and he reacted by pulling her hair, throwing her on the ground, and kicking her. There were plenty of better ways he could have haddled the situation.

1. No, he certainly did not. That's just... over aggressive and vulgar. Sure, she was rude too, but, ah, he went way over the top for that situation.

1. The reaction was incorrect. There were many more appropriate responses to the situation than what was done.

2. I believe, even though so many people will hate me for it, that it is acceptable to hit a women a much as it is acceptable to hit a man. Assault is assault. No matter who you hit there is no getting around that. But, if women complain about getting all the same rights as a man, this comes with it. They should not get special treatment. If they do, it is technically sexism.

The only time it's acceptable to hit anyone is if they've hit you first or are clearly threatening your person with physical violence. Having a drink thrown in your face, while definitely a piss off, isn't quite the same as her chucking the glass in his face and punching him in the nads, or anything like that. He overreacted. If she'd hit him first, I'd say he'd have every right to hit her back, but she didn't. She poured a drink on his head, and he knocked her down and shitkicked her.
