I have a problem with the government having that much power over my life. Yes, I know what you're all thinking. "Dirty Republican." I'm not. I'm Libertarian. I just don't want the government have the power to control my health care, which, although they don't say it, is the way it looks like it is going, to me.
To address your point: You don't want the government to control your healthcare; do you know how is controlling it today? And do you trust them more?

Yes. I do trust them more because they are interested in profit and not reelection. Profit I can agree with. Although they are corrupt and bad, I believe they aren't lost.

It was an example to show how he can't take his time to perfect everything.
It's apparently not possible to do so right now, because people keep demanding that he come through on all his promises.
Give the man some time.
You can't change an entire country overnight.
In my opinion, yes, the rich should pay for it.
A slight increase in taxes isn't going to hurt them.
Republicans help the rich, Democrats hurt them.
We just had Republican leave office after helping the rich, now its our turn to hurt them. LoL

How in the hell is it fair that the rich should have to pay for YOUR health insurance?
Put yourself in the rich person's shoes. Would you like someone to charge you $10 for a product and sell the same exact product to someone else for $5, just because "you can afford to pay more for it then they can?" Hell no! You would get pissed and yell discrimination, because in reality, it IS discrimination.
Bad analogy is bad.

Poor people have to pay taxes too. If they don't they go to prison for tax evasion.

Then give me an analogy that fits this situation then. My analogy is exactly what you are proposing.

You're quoting the wrong person, I did not say that.

I do apologize, you are correct in that I did quote the wrong person. But please give me a "good analogy" then if mine doesn't suffice.

Now that she is retired and on social security they are charging premiums on her social security for her Medicare!
That's not a problem with Medicare, that's a problem with Social Security.

Social Security was fine, but the government started dipping into it. So what is to prevent the government from dipping into the premiums they will collect from the "public health care" product? Answer? Nothing. Its just the government's way of taking more of or money to line their pockets with promises that "everything will be ponies and rainbows! (but not the gay kind, because gays are evil!) [for the record, I am very pro-gay rights]

THE CAKE IS A LIE
Slippery slope.

Also, you never answered my question on what is to prevent the government from dipping into the health care money? When a criminal commits a crime, they lock them up to prevent them from committing more crimes. No one is holding the government accountable for dipping into social security. I highly doubt it will even be around by the time we are of age to retire.
Better question: What's to prevent the government from dipping into anything? What makes you think that the government is making these massive profits off of Medicare? Are you just going to live in fear your whole life that the government is out to get you?

Let me preface this by saying that I have a pre-existing condition. Obama's health care plan would be good for me for that reason but I oppose a "universal" health care mainly for the reason that people in different areas have different needs for their health care. Someone who lives in a suburb will not necessarily need the same health care as someone who lives in a city.
Like Medicare, Obama's plan is flexible. You aren't just slapped down with the same exact thing as the next guy. It suits your needs.

Ah, common tactic, try to avoid my question with a question of your own. I should refuse your question but I will answer it. Nothing, nothing is preventing the government from dipping into anything. Thats the biggest reason why I want them to stop taxing the crap out of me. I also love how the only thing that they pass without any "nays" is "Should we give ourselves a pay raise?" They have to pay for their pay raises and their re-election campaigns somehow.
Just because I disagree with how the government is spending the Americans' money, doesn;t mean I think the "government is out to get me" Thanks for putting words in my mouth. Now please answer my prior question, which is "What is to prevent the government from dipping into the health care money they collect from the US tax payers, like they have with medicare and social security?

You trust them with your CARE because they want to leech money from both you and those providing you with the care (hospitals)??

That makes absolutely no sense.

Also, Obama's plan is not based on his desire to be reelected. It is an attempt to give more than 30 million uninsured Americans affordable and flexible health care.

They want to leach my money. And others want to do the same thing. Therefore, they compete. They give me good deals to try and convince me. Then, they don't do stupid things with my plan because they might lose me. So yes, it does make sense.

Government wants to get reelected. They make everything they do sound good and they get out alright.

Actually, I'm not a selfish b***h like most Americans and would love to help those in need.
I wouldn't be bitching about higher taxes on me, because I can actually afford it.
I'd be donating money to charities that need it.
I'd be helping those who cannot help themselves.
It's sad that Americans aren't willing to help their fellow countrymen.
If you make more money, you should be taxed more.
If you make less money, you should be taxed less.
Sounds like common sense to me.

You are kidding me right. You don't actually think if you make more you should be taxed more. Dude that's not right. That is discrimination. How could you even think that a good idea. I mean true if you put yourself in the poor man shoes but is it fair to force the guy who works hard and builds his own successful company to have to give his money to "the guy who doesn't do sh!t." That's not right, also here something you don't know. The people who will actually suffer the most isn't the upper class it going to be the middle class "the lower middle class". Since you know they WILL raise the taxes a lot higher then they say it going to be. For everyone not just the rich people as you said. The really rich can and will work their way around it one way or another. From other moving to a different country that doesn't tax the hell of them, or taking it to court, bribing the government. What about the people who Obama says he going to help. He won't help them, trust me on this. If anything he going to make it harder for people to become rich.

So you really have a problem with taxes, rather than the health care system. How, you to then propose, the government provide us with any services without taxes?

I am not going to answer that question, purely because it is utterly ridiculous. Also, prove that the government is dipping into Medicare funds.

What I think the prior poster was trying to get at is that a company that is interested in profit is going to be more willing to apease you so they can keep your business. It makes no sense for them to piss you off, because you will just take your business elsewhere, and thus they will not get your money.

And I call bullshit on the latter part of your post. Of COURSE passing this bill is used so Obama and all the other Dems can be reelected. Why would they waste their time passing a bill that wouldn't do anything to get them reelected next term? Because they care about their fellow American? Hell no! I will guarren-damn-tee you that if this bill passes, that will be the HIGHLIGHT of Obama's reelection campaign (If it doesn't bankrupt America), and it DOESN'T pass, that will be the highlight of the Republicans' campaign.

They do not give you deals that a non-profit would. Medicare has a profit margin of roughly 4%. Compare that to the companies you're riding on, and you'll see a dramtic difference.

"Govenerment" doesn't want to get reelected. You can't "reelect" the government.

Oh, you mean you have no response, because you know I'm right?

Well, the prior poster said they think that the rich should pay more taxes because "they can afford it" Your analogy would be if the rich and the poor paid the same flat rate for taxes. Both you and your analogy fail.

Right, but because the public is largely ignorant to how much they're being robbed, insurance companies don't have to explain anything.

What the ********. Okay, prove that assertion. Because this bill DRASTICALLY improves health care in American, both financially and functionally, and it DOES NOT change YOUR CURRENT PLAN (if you have one). So why are you bitching?

Maybe the president would waste his time passing a bill because that's his [******** job. rolleyes
