Methcalarjalope `cyn Sins don't exist. They're rules male up by some people who believed in a man in the sky. Just because you read it in a book, or heard it as in a book, it doesn't mean it's true. Actually, sins do exist and you know it. You are upsetting yourself with double think when in actuality there are many behaviors that you find disturbingly evil and wrong, though you might not use the terms "evil" and "sin" the concept applies. This. Though I will never agree with Noora on certain things on this topic, the basic concepts and tenets remain the same. So, too, with Atheists and the like, they simply lack a clear, written book to help them define their morality and ethical disposition. |

The Bible says that sin is rebellion against Gods word, as humans we have all sinned because all of us have rebelled against Gods word at some point in our life even if we don't know it.

For instance, I do not like the idea of killing or torturing a kitten, but I support abortion and eat meat, which comes from animals raised/tortured/murdered in slaughterhouses. Due to this hypocrisy, I think my idea of right and wrong is invalid. Same with almost everyone else's. |

That doesn't make you a hypocrit. I was raised in a household in which a abortion was 'murder' for part of my childhood. Otherwise, it was never discussed. I'm not a 'good' person. I don't think I am. So saying there is no such thing as right and wrong is probably my way of protecting my emotions to keep from caring, quite honestly. It's my way of waiving responsibility, perhaps. But can you say WHY killing a kitten solely for pleasure is wrong? I doubt you can. It cannot be proven with science. You believe it because it is what you are told. So did I. I do not kill kittens because I do, however, believe in... personal rights. Everyone should be entitled to safety. This means not being raped or tortured. I believe in this because I do not want to be raped or tortured, and because I see the alternative as being total anarchy, which I don't want. Having said that, explain right and wrong to me. |
