Pot really mellows me out. I inhaled it on accident when my friends were smoking it and I started getting really happy. I never felt so free :3

Smoking doesn't only affect the health of the one who smokes, but also the health of those around you, that's where the problem comes in. Since you have the right to smoke (cigarettes, since pot is illegal) you have the right to release toxins into the air that I might end up breathing. If I were around that enough I could get cancer from your bad habit. You're especially hurting the people with asthma who can't breath when you release that smoke in the air. Think about the people you might be killing. It's just as bad as a drunk driver, except you don't see the direct effect of it.

You should be free to contract cancer in any manner you see fit; you should not be free to force cancer on bystanders. Seriously, you want to smoke? Go smoke, but kindly be polite about it and smoke away from the non-smokers because I'm certainly going to be polite and not tell you how to live your life.

My husband has really bad asthma, and he spent much of his childhood ill because his father didn't really give a damn who he smoked around-those are the types of smokers with whom I have no patience.

As for pot, it's not legal in this country, but should it become legal, I'd ask the same of pot smokers: Be polite! Not everyone wants to get high with you. Actually, if pot is ever legalized, I hope the same restrictions are put on the stuff as alcohol-no minors, no driving because that crap does make some people really spacey (yes, I know there are studies claiming it doesn't affect driving response in some users) and no smoking the stuff in public. Contact highs are a bad thing when you don't know what's happening to you.

Thank you, Lanzer and others who listened. *goes off to eat cake*

It's because we have to be the morality police for everyone. Drinking, smoking, being fat. We need to make sure everyone is the same. Always. Society is all about making you think that being an individual is ok, while in actuality telling you to conform, else you are shunned to all hell. 3nodding

People say the funniest things to me:
"Neither of you can bear my children! We're related by math!"
"my mohawk Einstein."

Well I dont think anyone should wish cancer on themselves, but I suppose people are ignorant to how your body takes to cancer along with the treatment that follows it. After all when I started treatment for mine... I never realized how horrible it was to go through and im not one of the people that have to be on it for the rest of my life like some.

Now I can see your point about how silly it is if people are against pot and not alcohol, considering Alcohol is more of a killer then Pot could ever be. Now on cases of people getting on your back about it, I dont think a random stranger has a right to say anything to you but if they feel the need to because of personal reasons (maybe they had a family member die from it) then I suppose that makes sense. Now when it comes to family members and loved ones, its because they care for you... is that so wrong that they are concerned?

For example, with my life... my brother has been doing alot of Pot lately im worried about him not because of the cancer (because I personally dont think you really have to worry about that) but more so on the factor that alcoholism runs in my family, it destroyed my father and initially led to his death. I can see pot doing the same thing since its an addiction (dont tell me it isnt, because I know too many people that said they'd give it up and still havent) and for my brother he has more of a chance of following the same path as my father did. Im concerned for his well being, and ive told him many a time that I just dont want to bury my father and my brother before I pass on. None the less he has yet to listen, but I can only hope he knows how much I care for him and that's the only reason why I ask him to stop.

Perhaps thats what people want when they bother you about it?

Don't care, just don't get me involved... not saying you will, just saying I don't care to be involved.

I understand people want to do drugs and smoking because it releases their stress. Yeah, I can dig that. However, it is only for the short term and those who do it and actually want to live to a ripe old age as healthy as possible are not thinking for the long term. Of which is bad of course, 'cuz then, you'll be a burden on a health system that so many people pay and use. Seeing how anything people pay into for future benefit allows people to think that they should be able to control what people do with "their" money, it's no wonder that the most obscure people try to interfere with your lives and demonize your potentially financially ruinous activities.

The unborn do not deserve the same rights as the living. How to solve this? Just give 'em their own unborn baby bill of rights and in this great democracy of ours have the unborn themselves vote on it--oh wait--that's right, they CAN'T.

I believe we are a social species and as such have an intrinsic duty to attempt to protect others, even if that means stopping self-harm.
