Bullfighting is an ancient tradition in many countries, mainly Spain. Actually there are many people against this because is cruelty against animals (the bulls). And other people supports it because is "art", a tradition that must go on, etc.
What do you think about?

I think it's cruel to the animals and stupid for the humans. The only reason people have any respect for it is because it is traditional, and I'm of the opinion that traditions should not be kept just because they are traditions.

I'm all for bullfighting.
I think it's awful and don't like it.

Well ... they give the bull meat to the poor, I've heard.
Eh ... I'm on the fence here.
I think in a world where we regularly eat meat as a form of pleasure, turning up our noses at the ritual slaughter of an animal for entertainment purposes is a smug, middle-class hypocrisy we could do without.
I see no issue with letting the bull have a chance to defend himself for a change. The hundreds of thousands that the industry slaughters every day see no such privilege.

I don't respect it because it's traditional. I respect it because it's an entertaining exhibition of skill, and makes a grand metaphor out of human dominance over nature.

In my opinion, bullfighting is as uncivilized of a thing to do, as dog fighting. Traditional or not.
It's an art the same way serial killers slicing up their victims is an art; it's not. It's not like bear baiting is still an acceptable past-time, or dog fighting, or c**k fighting.

I always feel bad about losing cultural elements, clothing, language, training, beliefs that go along with any practice; but sometimes the practices are bad enough that they just need gtfo already.

Bull-fighting is not a case of animals fighting one another. The cruelty exhibited there is of a different variety. Moreover, c**k-fighting is permitted in some cultural environments, like in the Traveler communities in the UK.

I don't see how what is done to the bull is so much worse than a slaughterhouse.

I don't fancy slaughterhouses either. Although I was pretty sure in a slaughterhouse they weren't stabbed repeatedly so as to NOT cause immediate death; the goal of a slaughterhouse is to kill as many as possible so I would think they were killing them very quickly and with a minimum of pain. I admit I am not sure about this but it is what seems logical.

Bull fighting is glorified torture where the animal is stabbed repeatedly in places that won't cause death but will cause pain and anger. I don't find pain and anger to be entertaining because I am not insane and I can sympathize with their suffering, for which there is no good reason.
