Violence in men is suppressed, detested and disencouraged. Welcome to the 2000s, the 1980s are back that way.

We're dealing with a modern society where pacifism is revered and the being a hot guy means being about as effeminate as you can without physically surrendering your d**k.

I would raise you a companion thread talking about women and emotional abuse of women and men, but I'm lazy. Good work on the thread though, and sorry for spam.
I would like to make a sister thread about the portrayal of femininity in society. Unfortunately I have not studied that issue nearly as much as I've studied masculinity, so to create a solid argument about negative feminine stereotypes would require some additional research on my part. Also, women's issues are discussed a lot more than men's issues. Making a sister thread might actually be beating a dead horse.

sweatdrop I'm just more interested in the feminine side of the debate. Consider the source, I reckon. :3
I can touch on a few basic issues with femininity: women are over-sexualized, their bodies distorted as small in physical features except for sexual parts of the body, they're often portrayed as servants to men in the media (in subtle ways), and it is accepted as a "social norm" that women are second to men, even in American culture.

Well, there's that, but I'm more curious about inter-women relations and how bitter they can be.

Yes, your point is?
No counterargument?

I believe that this issue needs to be addressed publicly and talked about more with boys and young men.

Whoops forgot I was in the ED for a minute.

Anyways my point was the males are violent and your post will do nothing to stop it. I understand that you're trans and everything but there's no need to pay any attention to all the testosterone filled douchebags that ******** with you about it and baw about over the internet. It's seems to me this is what you're doing and sorry if I'm mistaken. Pretty much, the only people who are going to get your message are the people who already agree with you, and the violent dumbasses aren't likely to read this whole post, much less have a change of heart over it. So unless you want to converse with people that aren't going to do anything but agree with you and troll there's no point in posting this topic.

@Hepzeba: Sure am envious. I suck at posting long winded arguments over nothing that don't even matter to anyone that won't want to read this anyways. It was a good post, and for that reason I am jealous.

Homosexuality has no place in our society. From time to time we have to resort to violence. Its only natural.
If I ignore the incredible bias behind this argument, it still lacks explanation of male violence against women. It also does not explain men commiting violent acts against heterosexual men.

Hot guys are also capable guys. We women, and possibly also Gay men, prefer a successful, smart, sharp and wisecracking guy whose masculinity is refined but still just there below the surface.

Prize fighting, cigars and women in designer clothing will continue to be chic in New York, Boston and Chicago. wink

Wrestling and monster trucks are more for the midwesterners who are looked down upon by the elite. You know the same person who cannot stand to watch Sarah Palin in an interview with Bill O'Reilly. blaugh

The Jonas Brothers are like middle teenagers, the same kind of "boys" that the Priest Scandals involved except way hotter.

I didn't even bother to read this obvious bullshit.

Violence is the test of a man, the foundation upon which maleness has been built since the dawn of man.

I'm not even going to sit through one paragraph of somebody trying to take my violence away from me.

Not going to rip this apart, that'd take too long. But frankly, many of these traits are not always negative. I'm going into the military, and I hope to be a sergeant in a couple years. If a sergeant shows weakness, cracks, etc, it hurts morale. Men have gotten fragged for less.

But I imagine you want it in terms of a more typical civilian context. Frankly, you see fighting among boys pretty early, even if you go back to before mass media, you can find information on child rearing that basically states that it's in their nature as men. It's not anything new, it's just become more obvious with the advent of mass media.

Also, just to get in the queer comment before Octane, I've always felt that the way feminine traits in men are associated with homosexuality might be a decent sign of genetic predisposition in regards to sexual preference. Maybe the brain is programmed to pick up on that, hence "Gay-dar" and the way girls prefer bad boys to nice guys.

EDIT: ********. So close to INB4....
Yes, some of these traits can be positive in certain situations. I'm obviously addressing the extreme negative consequences of these traits and the exaggerration of them.

I did not say mass media was the only cause. My sources address other causes. If you took the entire argument into account and read and watched absolutely everything that point was addressed. I know no one has because the documentary I posted is 83 minutes long unabridged.

Feminine traits being exclusively female has a pretty strong argument against it in terms of transsexuality and transgenderism. Unless you hold the belief that transwomen are "really" women, which a lot of people don't. Your arguments have to be consistent for the positions to coexist and make sense.
