Riku xD PoeticVengeance Riku xD I'm just curious as to what seperates say a Tomboy from the little known Drag King? A Tomboy is a person who's actions, dressing style and personality don't match up to enough stereotypes of how women are allegedly supposed to act that they resemble a boy in those actions, personality traits and dressing style. It isn't actively done to appear more boylike nor does it stem from any kind of gender identity related factors. Tomboys generally still consider themselves fully and completely female (sometimes a FtM transgendered individual will be referred to erroneously as a tomboy) I see, before I was under the impression that being a Tomboy is a phase that one will grow out of or grow into say a Drag King. As I have a friend who is very tomboyish, competes in male activites, and befriends more males than females but is attracted to males. Just puzzling really. What's so puzzling about it? I say this not as an insult (because you're not the first nor will you be the last to be puzzled by it), but because I think people need to actually think about what this is really about. Being a tomboy doesn't make somebody automatically attracted to women, in fact I know very few self-proclaimed tomboys who are. Similarly I know plenty of lesbians who are girly-girls. Gender identity and sexual orientation are absolutely not connected. Sometimes (for cultural, political, or simply personal) reasons it seems that way for some people... butch lesbians, femme gay men, but they're not butch or femme inherently because of their sexual orientation, there are other factors at work. |
