Welcome to Gaia! ::

Fuzzy Phantom

Obviously it's wrong to do, really.

I've heard a lot about School Administrations judging students and Police Departments judging suspects or random people by their cover.

Any stories or perspectives of the matter you guys wanna share?
there any reason why you're making a shitload of low content "discussion" threads?

Because I'm wondering about the view points of these things, excluding the Pizza one.

Gaia usually holds semi-intelligent people in the forums, whereas on the other hand, a majority of people in RL are like, "WTFISHESAYING?"

But thanks, dude. For calling me out.

It was absolutely necessary.
just curious, normaly only spammers or trolls post that much, but you have had semi decent threads. Keep it up, just try to make them a bit longer smile

Fanatical Zealot

lol, I don't think our views should matter, sense we shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. wink

Sometimes it's wise to just a book by it's cover. Guy riding around in his windowless van. Searching for his "puppy". Do you get in that van if he ask for help?

A clerk working the late shift at a convenience store. Group of teens walk in, baggy clothes, all go to different corners of a store. To "buy" snacks and whatnot. Would it be wrong for the clerk to watch those kids like a hawk? Would it be wise?

Personally, when I first meet people, I don't trust them as far as I can throw them. Only when they prove that their worth a s**t, by one way or another, do I not judge a person anymore.

Personally, the way I see it, we would not have the phrase thrown in our faces all the time if certain groups of people did not abide by stereotypes. People who abide by certain stereotypes only give people a reason to judge others.

It's wrong but we all do it, it's just a sad reality of being a human.

Stereotypes typically exist for a reason, even if it does piss off those that dress/act a certain way to be part of that herd. Thus, as the old adage goes, if the shoe fits, wear it.
Judging a book by it's cover? If I walk by the book rack and see some woman being ravished by some guy, its probably a romance, and not an action book. If I see tits and such? I'd wager it's porn typically.
So yeah, one can judge a book by its cover. It may not be right 100% of the time, but more often than not, it's close enough.
Well, obviously judging strangers has gotten many people in trouble but judging others CAN be useful and most of the time, it's true. Judging people by what they wear and how they act is human instinct. We can't get over it. It's just not possible. No matter how hard we try, we always judge others. It's just a way of life. Even animals do it to indicate if the person or animal is dangerous.
