First of all, you're right. I was stereotyping. Why? Because it's typically a correct stereotype. If you're a middle aged man who doesn't believe in God, that's fine. My stereotype was referring to Gaia...and I'm just about positive it's true.
Second, if a religious group is going to spend their time, money and effort it's their choice. I think they have the right. And yes, the missionaires did spread the word of God. Apparently you were told of a different type. All cultures are unique and interesting! Just because they have the same religion doesn't mean that you can't be unique. Religion is just one of the many facets of a culture. To top it off, nobody forces you to be
any religion. It's your choice.
So it's justified for you to stereotype a group of people you've never met but if I say "Many people use religeon to justify hatred" I'm being predjudice towards christians?
And I still don't agree. Why can't they fund the work without religeous attatchment. Why can't they put their money into something knowing that they've helped people and not have to have "OMFG CHRIZTIANZ HELPING TEH POOR" plastered all over it. And while it may have imporved a lot now, historically, these people entered 'primative' cultures with impressive new technology and used that as a tool to convert. You can do your charity work, but I don't see why you have to talk to them about your god as you do it.
