EmotionallyInconsistent Demetri Nolan That is kinda funny that the only costumes for blacks is pimp costumes lol. I think most things they sell are for whites, because (at least around here) there's rarely any black people around. That's got to change; it will have to start with non-Whites that want change to make their own costumes and market them to other non-Whites. than its never gonna happen. cuz I can guarantee you that other races really dont care that much about Halloween. |

fact is....Costume companies want to be able to advertise their costumes better.
white models just happen to show off the costumes better. They are white. like mannequins. You wouldnt put a dark colored costume on a dark skinned model because than the costume is harder to see. and dont start calling me racist....I'm just calling things the way I see it. |

Track02_restore Completely Serendipitous Racist means hatred torwards a race. Just because they were all caucasian models doesn't mean they're racist. This topic is completely pointless. The only black models were pimps. They are implying black people are pimps! How is that not displaying an obvious hatred toward the black community? You are being WAY too irrational. |

Track02_restore So, for the past month I've been working at a Spirit Halloween store (seasonal-only store owned by Spencer's Gifts that sells Halloween costumes and some accessories). Not until the day before Halloween did I notice how incredibly racist it really is. Now bear with me, really think about it for a minute, while I bring up some key points that helped me realize this. All of the sexy adult costumes feature white girls on the package. The humor costumes are all white... ...even the ones depicting racists costumes. Kids costumes? Yep, every model is WHITE. Second point: Even accessory costumes are made for Caucasian skin only. Every latex injury or skin attachment, WHITE. Every bald cap or wig with bald skin, WHITE! There is ONE group of costume and accessories that contained black people. Care to take a guess? Pimps. So, ED, with all your up-at-arms attacks on other things that might or could be called racist, why overlook the obvious: Halloween is RACIST! I see plenty of black trick or treaters in my small suburban town and see no problem, then again I see a multiple different ethnic groups and races and see no problem and they have great costumes. I do not see any racism because other Halloween shops are different and carry items with different models. Maybe the models just coincidentally were white or that is all they could find. I see multiple ethnic groups in haunted attractions all over here. I see plenty of Hispanic and Black performers. Notice the baby costumes have Hispanic children modeling? I see what you mean about the pimp costumes, but some white men model them on other sites and I see white men modeling them on spirit halloween. |

You raise an interesting point... ...then again, pretty much everything can be considered to be racist if you look at it in a certain way. |

Your logic failed, try again. what color are the pimp costumes? neon green, bright purple.... and I have seen black models in lighter colored costumes. One particular MOD costume comes to mind. like I said. Companies want to advertise their costumes. maybe...just maybe....the white model photographed better in the costume? I highly doubt a company would jeopardize their income by alienating parts of their consumer groups. |
