That is kinda funny that the only costumes for blacks is pimp costumes lol. I think most things they sell are for whites, because (at least around here) there's rarely any black people around.

who said Pimp costumes are "for" black people? eek Last time I checked there were Pimps of all colors. Why cannot I dress as any other type of genre of my choosing? Since when were witches or any other monster "white?"

I agree, the drunk Mexican one, would be far funnier if it was a Korean.

What happened to the musical, dude?

So, for the past month I've been working at a Spirit Halloween store (seasonal-only store owned by Spencer's Gifts that sells Halloween costumes and some accessories). Not until the day before Halloween did I notice how incredibly racist it really is. Now bear with me, really think about it for a minute, while I bring up some key points that helped me realize this.

All of the sexy adult costumes feature white girls on the package.

The humor costumes are all white...
...even the ones depicting racists costumes.
Kids costumes?
Yep, every model is WHITE.

Second point:
Even accessory costumes are made for Caucasian skin only.
Every latex injury or skin attachment, WHITE.
Every bald cap or wig with bald skin, WHITE!

There is ONE group of costume and accessories that contained black people. Care to take a guess?
Pimps.

So, ED, with all your up-at-arms attacks on other things that might or could be called racist, why overlook the obvious: Halloween is RACIST!
Your Avi is WHITE.

Maybe because I am white, and my avi is meant to represent me.

Dude. You're confusing yourself with the MATERIALISTIC side of Halloween.
A pagan holiday can't be racist stare

Unless you are pagan, that is what modern day Halloween is. I don't know if it always was racist, but it damn well is now.

Let's assume Halloween is racist. Why are kids of all races allowed to participate?

BS.
It would be racist if they denied certain costumes to certain populations.
What the marketing companies (NOT HALLOWEEN) are doing is portraying lines of costumes.
I don't find this racist when you are perfectly able to buy any costume you damn well please.
Seriously, you're making quite a big deal out of nothing.

Who is stopping you!?
Nobody, I mean NOBODY, is denying you the right and will to dress yourself in any manner you find pleasing.

Also, most of the witches I've seen are 'green'? Does that make it racist?

According to your evidence, the "Spirit of Halloween" store could be considered racist. Not Halloween itself.

There is also a local costume shop, same deal there (except no website for photo evidence).
Also, a quick google image search of commercial Halloween costumes brings up a shot of Playboy's costumes. Guess what...

They're all white.

Yes, and they have a pimp.

Well, now Lord Mr. Ford, I just wish that you could see
What your simple horseless carriage has become
Well, it seems your contribution to man
To say the least, got a little out of hand
Lord Mr. Ford what have you done.

The original point: pimp costumes = Black, anything else = White

Now whether this was models used for certain costumes OR masks molded and painted in the likeness of a race is beyond me...

Also, I'd like to bring up cultural appropriation and Halloween shouldn't exist together. neutral

Cultural appropriation has tainted Halloween anyway with people pretending to be Native Americans, Gypsies (Roma people) and others... neutral

I am not really sure if dressing as another culture or race is necessarily racist. It is more like emulation to me unless it is done with the purpose of mocking another race or culture.

The famous iconic flim, The Wolfman featured Roma fortune tellers who warned about the werewolves.

I didn't say racist. I said cultural appropriation--a great example would be weaboos. neutral

Weabooism is more failed cultural appropriation. Part of what makes them so god-damn annoying is the fact that they're functionally completely ignorant of the culture that they're trying to emulate and fairly complacent in that ignorance.

I think you are blowing this way out of proportion...Halloween has been here since before you were born, and it's not the Holiday that's racist, but the stores and people who make and sell the costumes, accessories and etc. they do make skin attachments and costumes for black people, they just sell them in different stores, but if you think about it, its not the Holiday that's racist, but the people who make it racist....not saying that you make it racist, just saying that might have just noticed that it is starting to get racist.
