Don't forget intrusions in geological strata. How did those get there, and if young-earth creationism is correct, why don't they all reach the uppermost layers?

Obviously because the Flood pushed them down.

Do you even know what an intrusion is?

Hint: It usually starts as magma. Magma is hot. Magma causes water to turn to steam. Magma is liquid form of what?

Dude
I was making a joke
Do you think a creationist would know what an intrusion is anyways?

And for your question, they're called Rocks.

Don't know anything about this one. My geological knowledge is actually fairly limited. After all, I'm an astronomer. Most of my actual education on geology is on the topic of planets like Mars without much going on. Feel free to explain more? If so, I'll add it to the first post.

If not, I'll go do some reading and do it myself. I like education!

do you really think there are many creationists around here, or just trying to create awareness of the arguments given?
I don't think there's really all that many here. What there was it seems that my threads and the tireless efforts of a few other people (Westenblum, Vyrko, etc...) have scared most of them off. I've been told they hide in the M&R subforum so I just tried calling them out to see if they'll grow some balls for a change.

However, the main thrust of these threads isn't to debate Creationists and change their minds. I don't really thing most Creationists have enough brain left to be able to change. Rather, it's to show the general public who doesn't understand science terribly well just how hollow Creationist/ID arguments are so instead of being taken in by the lies, they'll know better and just laugh at the retard circus.

(No offense intended to either the mentally challenged or circuses.)

Therein is the crux of the matter - most people aren't scientifically literate enough to be aware of even a great amount of the vast body of evidence supporting evolution. Creationists play on that ignorance, hoping that people don't do the research. Of course, many don't, and some end up believing the creationists' tales of a 6000-year-old Earth which once saw all the animals sharing space with human beings (among other odd statements, of course).

I only know cursory tenth-grade stuff about it, and most of what I learned I forgot, but basically in certain strata at certain points in time magma forces its way up to the top and deposits a small layer of igneous rock at the top. The intrusion is thus easily visible in a stratum as it's a layer of igneous rock that will cut across (though, not straight, obviously) one or more layers, but it will only go as far up as its age, then more layers will have deposited on top of it. The intrusion is newer than all the layers it intersects with, obviously.

I just got up from a nap, and I'm very confused.
That's a lot to read over summer break.
Could you possibly break that down into smaller words for me? x.x
I'd really like to reply to this thread.
But.. I'm sleepy and you had a lot to read. D:

Poor baby. Maybe you should try the chatterbox.

Fine: Creationism can't explain anything and shouldn't even be considered if it can't explain anything.

. . . The OP was very succint for a scientific topic. You'd be surprised at how much more scientists would have to write for journals, research papers (if they're in college, like myself), and the like.

I'm being lazy. I went ahead and posted the topic with just a few examples. But it will be growing.

I know I've thought of dozens of examples of these miracles of creationism, I've just never been smart enough to write them down. As they pop into my head and others find more, I'll be expanding the OP as I've already done.

That wasn't a criticism; I merely meant to inform Meherafraz that this your post wasn't terribly large in scientific terms. ^_^

yes it is a scientific fact that the more words you use and the more esoteric terminology contained within a theory, the more correct it must be.

Silly scientists. When will stop assuming Uniformitarianism that you cannot prove? As we see in 2 Samuel 13:14, eventually we will win: that will be the fate of science. Just you wait.

Wow, that's a new strawman. I can tell you're not entirely interested in what I have to say, but to wit: scientists, unlike creationists, submit their hypotheses to rigorous testing and examination. It's all a process of ensuring that what we say can be substantiated by evidence.

Ehh.. Okay? o.O I don't really care about scientist, or whatnot.
I just was asking VoijaRisa to explain it more clearfully.
So that some stupid person, as myself, could understand.
Without getting a headache that is...

"Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her." Yep, makes perfect sense. xd

Damn. I used very simple terminology! I guess the OP must be wrong... sad
