Well as above really....
Was the American Revolution really revolutionary?
I'm doing a paper to do on this, and I thought it'd be interesting to see people's opinions on the matter.
Honestly in my opinion, it was a revolution, regardless really of social upheaval.
Revolutions are generally defined as overthrowing one form of government/dictatorship etc.
And this happened
It may not have had the same impact at the Russian Revolution, but still, it was revolutionary!

Your turn
Well, it was revolutionary in a sense that GW charged the British with his fellow men inside a Dodge Charger. biggrin

I didn't even crack a smile. Just post relevant s**t, it's easier.

Yeah, technically, it was a revolution. Even though not much changed. End of topic.

I don't feel like taking the internet seriously when that's not the point of its creation. 97% of all websites are porn related. How could anyone take the internet seriously with that statistic?

You literally just made that statistic up. What's more, the internet is the only place you're going to get the real news about what's going on here and abroad. If you actually care about things like freedom and the world and not being oppressed in the near future, it's kind of important.

Not many do, though. It's heavy s**t, I don't blame them.

Depending on what statistics you go by, the number ranges between 12%-97%

Um, I support authoritarian governments; even more so when they embody a Hierarchical Meritocracy.

Arguably, the American Revolution helped inspire the French Revolution and others throughout the world in the 18th century, especially in regards to abolishing monarchies and promoting humanist ideals.

The American Revolution did have a big impact and was "revolutionary" in that without it the United States of America would not have been formed. The US post-Industrial Revolution had a massive effect on the Western hemisphere and became the forerunner of technological and scientific advances, inventions, and discoveries.

The apex of the American golden era post-WWII and pre-Cold War was a pinnacle of accomplishment, before the slow decline into military imperialism and fear propaganda.

Yes, the America of today is a decaying vestigial empire, but we were once great and changed the world forever as we helped inspire other nations to adopt the capitalist-democracy model.

For the Western world, the center of the universe was for a long time the United Kingdom, then it became the United States. Now it remains to be seen who the successor will be, but it cannot be forgotten what was accomplished, the good deeds and sad mistakes, so that in the future the next world power will improve the pre-existing models and not repeat the same sins.

It was revolutionary in that it was among the first colonies a great monarchical empire that overthrew its progenitor nation. And instead of being ruled by a new King and dynastic line, it completely did away with crowns, kings and hereditary rulers stare mostly (Bush family not withstanding)

This. And as much as the French Rev module at my university sounded interesting at first, after a year of it I'd rather just get the exam over and done with gonk Politics, gah.
The American revolution is unique in that it spawned the first modern country. One in which everyone could freely be an entitled prat who thinks they're special enough to try and manipulate a forum to write their paper for them.

Before that, people either cheated with subversion, or did their own work.

The impact of this are still seen today.
