Okay I realize I spelled Baptist wrong, and I meant Christianity as in you believe in god in general, and Please before you read, if you think this is stupid then why waste your time on post in my thread..please leave.

There's one thing on my mind that disturbs me, almost scares me.
Okay, so lets say that the world actually will end December 25th of 2012,
They predict that the world will crumble, and the heavens will rain fire,
The world will go into shock,
But what about the "Christians"?

The "Christians" believe that the rapture is coming,
that God will come down and take all who are saved to heaven,
leaving those who aren't on earth to test their "Faith".
They will endure 7 years of torture,
A man will come and speak of False peace,
and claim he is the TRUE messiah.

But if the world is supposed to end "2012" then how will the 7 year tribulation start?
Because we only have "3" years!

Other religions believe that nothing will happen, and that there will be a New Beggining.

So who's wrong?

If the Mayans believe that the world is going to self destruct,
but the Christians think that Tribulation will start...
Do we really know when the world is gonna end?

That's what scares me...
Not stopping what's already been set into motion,
nobody knows when, or how.
Now I don't know what to believe.
If it is true then we only have 3 years...
3 years to make something out of our lives.

It's a scary thought.

Who do you think is right?

Actually to be completely honest the Mayans believed that this destruction of the world would be by earthquake. This was in an educational videa I saw about a year ago. I don't tend to think about it, using the above as a reason. Not to mention there are two different dates for the end of the world, I've also heard the 21st of December too. I don't know who's right or if anyone is right but even with all that's happening, none of it feels like the world ending. I think breathing and living your life is the best answer to this, if you can get yourself to do it!

I think the guy who did the Mayan calendar stopped at 2012 because he DIED. I believe that he was working on it all his life, and the Mayans simply didn't bother to train anyone else, because it was far beyond their time anyways. They just held his funeral and no one bothered to pick the thing up and continue. That's my thoughts.

I heard it was two dates too, but because I'm wiccan, alot of my wiccan brothers and sisters believe that the second date is the 12, because thats when the last portal will open(12/12/12) after that there will be no more....so thats what scares me, my religion beieves that on the day the portal opens, there will be a new beginning, and that nothing will happen...

yeah, I can't remember his name, but he was the one who predicted the world would end in 1995, then 2000, then 2006, and now 2012....but thats what makes me not want to believe any of it...because he was wrong 3 times in a row...

No. Because the Mayan calendar doesn't say the world will end.

And I am SERIOUSLY confused as to why so many people say it will. Hell, Mayan decedents STILL EXIST (ame religion and everything) and they say the world WILL NOT END.

Seriously, more Life of Brian s**t...

Well, i don't put much faith in the Mayans, to be quite honest. As advanced as they were, they did have their setbacks. For instance, They believed that Cortez was a god.

As for Christianity, I'm a Lutheran.. but i don't believe any of it. at all.

Basically, i believe it's another false claim. We're all going to wake up the next morning thinking that we're such idiots.

Oh on the contrary, the "ONE PERSON" who predicted this in 2012 said the world "WILL END" were his words...there are many videos and studies that show that he predicted that the world will crumble from an earthquake, and that the heavens will rain fire...so I don't know where you are getting your facts.

Neither are right

Nothing will happen on 12/21/2012. The Mayan calender ended on that date, not because they believed the world would end, but because that was the end of a "Long Count" era.

Think New Year's, but for a really long calender. It continues afterwards, the ending date is just for reference.

That would set my mind at ease...to wake up and realize that I'm worrying about nothing...lol

They wrote the calendar on a stone right? Ever think that they just ran out of room?

As someone stated earlier, it wasn't the "end date," it was the end of the "long count" period. There are a lot of religions that believe in separate eras, 2013 would be the first year of a new one for the Mayans. And for all the shake up this date is getting, it would appear there are very few actual Mayans writing disaster books.

There have been significant dates that have passed without so much as a whimper, ever since we've had the brain to fear the end of the world. I think one sect of Christians believed that Christ would come back in 1847 (or something to that effect), but look, we're all okay! The years 1000 and 2000 have passed, the cold war ended without a single bomb being lobbed at us... we're fine! The only thing about the "end of the world" connotation with the year 2012 that's so scary is that it hasn't passed yet, so there's still a slim possibility that something awful will happen. But after it's over, trust me, we'll find a new date to fear.

You know what?
Thinking about 2012 is going to just make you freak out even more.
I know that if I kept on thinking about it, I would freak out as well.
I say, if it IS really going to happen, enjoy life, make the best of it
And if it reaches 2012 and that doesnt happen, at least you know that you probably did something meaningful with your life for a while! smile
