Welcome to Gaia! ::

Because people have been so disappointed recent due to our economy and politics to really have anything to be thankful for.

I, for example is really disappointed with Obama for passing Sheepard's Act. Theres nothing to be thankful of about that. Although I'm grateful of Maine for passing the legislation regarding gays marriage there, but I'm not thankful as it dont effect me here in NY.

This is a good point but the entire idea is flawed in that the only reason why the pilgrims were able to continue survival is the fact that they gave the Indians a plague and took the dead one's land.

I love well informed people. This is the point exactly. The corporations don't pull in any profit from it anymore because people know the truth now. What kind of a sales pitch do they have now? Turkey tastes like s**t anyway. Soon Christmas and the rest of the bullshit holidays will die off as well because nobody's gonna buy into the lies anymore. This is exciting, you guys are learning.

thanksgiving is a good time to get together and have a nice dinner without the commercialism and the greed that comes with christmas and i think a lot of people take advantage of that. thanksgiving is more of a quiet holiday in terms of commercialism and that's what makes it so great.
Because families don't do things together anymore. Everyone wants to do their own stuff. Families can't get together because everyone has a different job that they can't get away from.

ANNNNND because thanksgiving is not a monye making holiday. You can't go out and get costumes and candy for thanksgiving, you can't go out and get gifts for people because it's about giving thanks not stuff.

If families plan to get together for chanishmas(yes that's how i say it..Go Chowder!)to have dinner and stuff, why get together for thanksging and do the almost the same things, if chanishmas is only a month away?.

If I'm not mistaken, Thanksgiving is a big holiday for the Food Network. Like Christmas, it covers a shitload of good cooking, and oh, will there be good cooking.

I think food-oriented people are the only ones who actually care though.

What really pisses me off, though, is when there are Christmas decorations up when it's still Hallow-frickin'-een.
no not really cause thankgiving is big 4 my grandpap

Do people even celebrate thanksgiving anymore? I feel like after Halloween came it went straight to christmas..Everyone is outside putting up christmas decorations. What happend to thanksgiving ones? If its on a calender then how come we dont celebrate it like before? Isnt this holiday a way for all humans to give thanks for what we have in this world? Then how come we dont do that anymore? How come we only ask and take but never give back? Is this what it has come down to? In the end do we even have a thanksgiving?
WOW thats a lot of questions

anyways, i love thanksgiving :3 and the thing with christmas is annoying me too, they were doing christmas advertising before it was even halloween here :O
Oh, I don't know, we celebrate it. In old fashioned way too. Lots of food. LOTS OF FOOD. We could probably feed the entire kingdom of Monaco on thanksgiving if we wanted to.

Protip: Monaco is a tiny country entirely enclosed in France, its less than one square mile.
What do you want people to do? Put a huge turkey on their lawn?

scream THEY WHERE NOT INDIANS THEY NATIVE AMERICANS scream

scream INDIANS LIVE IN INDIA NOT AMERICA scream
(atleast not in that time period)

A lot of Native Americans refer to themselves as "Indians". Get over it.

Especially considering the only thing they went by were their tribe names.

People know the truth? Am I the only one who went to a remotely good school? When I was little they didn't teach that stuff, but as I went up in grades they started talking about killing the Native Americans. I'm just lost, because I didn't even go to good schools, and they taught me that crap.

Nah, Christmas will always exist, cuz people need their greed.
Never have celebrated Thanksgiving.
