Hello, You added some good points that most people did not think about.

Well, its mostly due to the fact that a majority of people who write these kinds of threads are pro-sword.

Quote:
But, I gotta say that there are pros and cons on both weapons.

Really? (Don't worry, I won't royally tear you apart on these, I'll just make corrections)
Quote:

-You say swords kill people silently, guns can kill you silently as well by attaching a silencer.

Actually this is incorrect. A silencer/suppressor only muffles the sound the gun makes when you fire it. It isn't completely silent, its just harder to hear.

Quote:
-You say swords are barbaric because you can kill someone up close and person, I agree with you on this. You can shoot someone from a mile away with a .50 BMG or .416 round and would not even know you killed a human being.

You can also be at point blank range with a .50 BMG, though it isn't exactly ideal, and get a kill.

Quote:
-You say swords will give you a painful death, I say guns can do the same, unless you shoot someone in the brain which is a painless death.

This one varies on where the attack hits. A cut to the arm isn't going to hurt as much as a shot to the balls, for instance.
Quote:

-You say the sword takes no skill to use, I say the gun is slightly more complex.
For the sword, you hold handle, you lift sword, then move sword on target as fast as possible.
For the gun, you load ammo in your magazine, put magazine in your firearm, take off the safety, pull back the firearm which loads the bullet in the gun, then pull the trigger at target.

...Well I don't have to worry about this one.

Man its great to be back.

How is your cousin any better than a parent who leaves it in a nightstand? It's HIS fault that the gun cabinet was accessible. Just because you tell a kid no does NOT mean they're going to listen. When I was a kid I did everything in my power to defy my groundings from TV, the computer, the phone, the this the that. It's what kids do because "groundings" don't work.

Im done, youre not listening.
Actually you don't know how to properly form an argument.

I do, actually. This thread is about swords vs. guns, not your personal opinion on what you think my cousin should have done or how it was his fault. As I have tried to get back on topic two posts in a row now, you are not listening.

Considering you didn't tell the second part of that story, how was I supposed to know it?

To me the father is irresponsible, what if someone had been upstairs? gonk If the father is as responsible as you claimed in the first post then he taught his sons how to properly handle a gun so as not to drop it. How to check and see if a gun is loaded (who the ******** keeps loaded guns and expects that to be safe?). How to clean the gun. How to fire the gun. Guns are perfectly safe to have in the house so long as you teach your kids what to do and you yourself know what to do. You're right, someone uneducated wouldn't know all of those things, but your story implied a responsible gun-owning family.

-EDIT- I not only find the father irresponsible in this story more so than his son, but why would he hide the game in the gun cabinet if his son is able to get into it and he doesn't want him to? Why not find somewhere else to hide the game that would be safer than a gun cabinet? Why not get a good ******** gun cabinet if you're so paranoid. My uncle has one that takes 10 minutes to unlock and only he knows the combination. He hunts.

1) 1 story house. We live in rural oklahoma.

2) The point of him putting the game in the gun cabinent was that hey, you are GROUNDED from this, do not touch it. Its going in the gun cabinent, I will know if you touched it. Not only did he disregard his punishment, he went the one place he is so not allowed to go, the gun cabinent.

It was just an example of how children can easily hurt themselves with guns. I wont even get into the parents who leave guns in nightstand drawers or on nightstands or just laying around. What about all the kids who bring guns to school? All more reasons why i dont like guns.

You're not every kid.

Try again.

Considering your original post in this whole shindig was off topic, I don't think I can be blamed for that.

She was talking about why she disliked guns. You dragged it out into how stupid her cousin was being.

Yeah, I'd say you could be blamed for that.

Heather's OP Says

I do martial arts, so I believe my greatest weapon is my body. And I am trained to fight someone witha gun. Doesnt mean i WANT to fight someone with a gun, but Ive been trained to do it.

Personally, I dont like guns. Guns let uneducated people and young children hurt each other. Example:
My cousin has had guns all his life. He has 5 sons, and like his daddy before him, taught them to never touch the guns, guns are dangeroius. His oldest son is 17, he got grounded from a video game, so my cousin put it in his gun cabnent, underneath the guns. He came home from work, the game was there, but he knew that his son had been in there and had gotten the game. This boy grew up around guns, he knows what they can do. He has 4 younger brothers, didnt matter. They ddint stop him from being stupid.

Actually, I was very on topic. You just chose to attack my example rather than debate the topic at hand.

Saying why you don't like guns with no relation to swords, and using a personal example and then attacking me for my opinion makes you a bit of a hypocrite.

.... WTF? When I said, "I do martial arts" For any martial artist, that says "She fights with swords!" Sorry if you arent educated enough to pick that up.

EDIT: Here, cheese_whine . Now go BAWWW somewhere else.

'S okay. Besides, what I've been saying is what the main point of your argument is about: You use swords and prefer swords over guns, because with guns people are more likely to injure themselves or each other. That's what I got from it, anyway.

Exactly. I'm glad I didn't put forth an argument that didnt make sense.

Well you did unintentionally, but that's what happens in a thread that absorbs sword weeaboos and gun nuts. Something is misconstrued, and its taken out of context.

Yup, we sure do.
