Guns are for cowards. Anyperson can hide behind a bullet.

Or a blade.

But for the sake of argument, how does one hide behind a bullet?

Honestly. Anyone who's got a bullet doesn't scare me much. A gun on the other hand, worries me a bit more.

That doesn't scare me either, a man with a gun. Not until he has a gun and bullets.

What if his gun has a bayonet?

I have long arms and a knife. It's about equal. So I'll go find a brick to chuck at him, unbalance the odds. There's always a brick around, ready to tip the scales in a fight.

Debatable. Guns can still cause blunt force trauma. A bullet on the other hand... Isn't... really large enough.

Guns and bullets don't worry me. People near guns and bullets who aren't trained to use them properly but still have intent to kill worries me.

EDIT: That was stupid of me to say. Sorry, the intent to kill worries me more. Not being trained worries me a little. If people were both trained and intend to kill, I would hope I'm not the target.

I'll definitely concede the intent to kill bit, but guns aren't very good weapons in melee, even with a bayonet. Without one, it's just a matter of getting inside their reach if it's a longarm, or controlling their weapon hand if it's a pistol. Basic wrist lock actually forces the hand open, and the attacker to drop the gun. Then you get them into a pin or choke hold.

Or do it krav maga style: Kick them in the balls until they fall down, then curb-stomp 'em.

And even then he still needs the casing, primer, and propellant attached to those bullets to make them dangerous.

I felt that was implied to be part of the attacker's tiny package.

@Ninth Pariah: I'll concede to that. Melee situations make guns pretty much useless unless they have bullets or you've already been tied up. I'm a huge CSI fan, so I made the point while thinking about pistol whipping and raping. gonk

Maybe some people view guns as dishonorable because it has different training methods than the "honorable" way of fighting. Kendo and fencing both require a ton of stamina, flexibility, and frequently, tactics are necessary. Ever hear kendo/fencing being compared to go/chess?

To be honest though, I suspect wielding a gun (properly) requires much of the same.

2nd rule of handling guns: ALWAYS treat the gun as if were loaded.

If it's being pointed at you, you're not handling it. Ergo, at that point in time, that rule does not expressly apply to you.

Yes, yes it does. It says ALL guns. And that includes ones pointed at you. ESPECIALLY ones pointed at you. I will assume it's loaded as the safest course of action.

Yea, i was gonna say: Safest course of action if a gun's pointed at you; assume it's loaded.

I remember that. Somewhere in Colorado. The armor was concrete and steel, and the military was within minutes of calling in an air strike, when he finally got stuck, and shot himself, to avoid being arrested.

All because he disagreed with City Councel, and felt ignored.
