Octane, THIS is why I treat you like the twith that you are and report you all the time. You don't know when to stop, and you ruin perfectly good threads all in the name of your own personal ********. In case you havn't noticed, the ED is running out of good threads. So, do everyone a favor, and bugger off.

So would you like to address to my points and the topic at hand? Or would you just like to concede that you have nothing to add to the debate and are merely here to blindly support gay rights while completely shutting out all disagreements with your ideology?
EDIT: And with this I'm out. I'll be back tomorrow.

People who can't convert you to their way of thinking have a way of irrationally lashing out when they know they don't have a chance in hell of bringing you over to their side. That's why he has to report you constantly, because you're not societies b***h like he is. Let's just accept whatever the media tells us to, because the numbers say America supports it. Sadly the polls say otherwise, can you say sore loser? lol
Less flaming. I report him because he openly supports *****, "corrective rape" on lesbians, hate crime legalization, and ruins every thread he comes into. He also over a few months befriended me, learned my screwed up past, and used it in public to mess with me personaly. I report him because he has no business being on Gaia.

I do believe that a system similar to the one that existed and still exists in CA, which states that civil unions have the same rights and responsibilities as marriage

Hold it right there.

Civil Unions do NOT have the same rights and repsonsibilities. I can dig out a rather long list detailing it if you like.

As for religion, that's neither here nor there since there are religious figures and sects that have already stated they will spiritually recognize and sanctify same sex unions. This is all about legal benefits.

1. Correct. I view "civil unions" as blacks being allowed on the bus...just in the back.

2. IF marriage is a "sacred religious tradition"....

WHY can atheists get married, and WHY can britney spears get married for a few days in vegas, or people go get married in an elvis chapel?

The pro Prop 8 people never answer that.

So to the Pro Prop 8 people: SEIG HEIL!

Because opponents like you cannot be persuaded by these organized movements. People will have to open their minds, not their pocketbooks, before equal rights will be offered.

Yeah, you know, just like your side is *willing* to open your minds to perhaps homosexuality is wrong. You guys are hell bent on believing that homosexuality is normal and should be accepted as so. I disagree. But I dont b***h and whine about you guys not being open minded to my views.

A massively significant portion of almost all wild life on this planet is naturally homosexual, not by "abhorrent chance" or "fault".

I remember when Prop 8 was in vote, all the themes and polls here at ED somehow gave me an optimistic hope that it would approve gay marriage. I mean, I did not think the commercials of the kids with the prince/princess stories and such could have the effect of fear on people it wanted to place. The acting on them was laughable in my opinion, so the seriousness of the message for me was gone with it.

But I was wrong, and well, slightly disappointed.

Does this mean you take the position opposite to mine in that the No on 8 did everything that they could?

@Sumitsu01: You bring up a good point on the deterioration of relationships in American society, however, in order for them to "have what they want" would imply a strong central political base, which I argue to be non-existent on the larger scale in terms of gay marriage. Any thoughts on this?

This is also true. The same could be said about interratial marriages as well, though I am not sure if we are hit with as much resistance as the GLBT front is. It's interesting I will say.

With that statement right there, you have a fatal assumption. You assume that homosexuality is in the same category as race, and with that you're assuming that homoseuxality is not a choice or disease or whatever other theories there are out there. You're blatently assuming that homosexuals are the same as race and requires protection like race. That is wrong.

Look, quite frankly I honestly don't give a damn what homosexuality is. All I know, is that they are people too, regardless of their sexual prefference. It equates to racial indifference because it's on the same level. Regardless of what other people want to think, to hate them because they endulge in same sex relations, is just as. if not as bad as hating us, because our skin is darker than yours. So pass the assumption platter somewhere else because I don't want any of what you're serving.

And for the record, my statement still stands.

So you're claiming that homosexuality is not a choice like skin color? Source?

You don't need a source to see what's right in front of your face everyday. If you need a source for that, then you're as bad off as I thought you were.

Excuse me? Last I checked I was free to say and do what I wanted, including posting my opinions on a forum. Get a grip, you're not anyone who has any right to be telling me what to do. If he hasn't been banned yet then obviously your reporting is being laughed at hysterically by moderators who might also view you as a troll. Considering that trolling also constitutes as constantly reporting people just because they don't share your viewpoint or simply because you do not like them or what they say. Don't address me again personally, or venture into a thought that might involve telling me what to do. You're barking up the wrong tree with that mess.
Torrent_Of_Octane
How is it that theres still people that call others trolls because they have a different opinion? Hmm... what was the term used by the gay activists.... AHH thats right, intolerance and bigotry.

You're not fooling anyone son.

Sassyy attitude, pretentious tone in the voice. I'd say mid to lower teens if I was going by just attitude, but the spelling's too good, so I'll say early 20s, recently married with slight financial problems. Profiling's a small hobby of mine >///>

Right. But reporting someone for posting anti-homosexual posts in a thread that had nothing to do with that....that's well within the rules. Reporting someone for describing in full detail what they want to do to one of the female members of this forum, that's reportable too.

Cry moar, it's a public forum. And..what was it? You're not anyone who has any right to be telling me what to do.

Welcome to Gaia, hun. I tried to be nice, so here's the short and sweet of it. Don't bump where it's not allowed, don't spam outside the chatterbox, try to keep posts to a paragraph or more in the ED, keep sigs to 500x500 and less than 100 kb, and ignore: Octane, Funliver, Asevenx, Female Avatar, and Tererun. They are the resident trolls, and should not be taken seriously. If funliver contacts you, report him DIRECTLY to a moderator, since he has a case with tthe Irish Garda about his posting here.

A website that I quite enjoy.

However back to the issue this thread is about. wink I understand that civil unions are not what gay people want, but the public has had their vote in most if not all of the states. The ones who passed gay marriage did so very underhandedly passing it in the middle of the night and not telling anyone there was going to be a meeting about it so nobody would show up. It seems to me that it's turned into a dirty battle where the gays are saying I'm going to get what I want no matter what the public says. Which I think is completely wrong, unconstitutional, and manipulative. If they want the same respect, they won't get it by being underhanded in their dealings with the public at large just to get their way.
M. Angel
Why can't the "official" leaders of this movement take what they have and use it to the best of their abilities?

Because they're divided up into little groups. Instead of agreeing with and supporting each other they're bickering, as opposed to the "anti gay marriage" group who only has one agenda in mind.

I'd also stop going by what is being blathered out of the news, since they're likely trying to get the "gay" groups to watch their hour.

They overturned the law that states how marriage may only be between a man and a woman for being unconstitutional. The same happened for interracial marriages.

Quote:
Although anti-miscegenation amendments were proposed in United States Congress in 1871, 1912-1913 and 1928,[5][6] a nation-wide law against racially mixed marriages was never enacted. From the 19th century into the 1950s, most US states enforced anti-miscegenation laws. From 1913 to 1948, 30 out of the then 48 states did so.[citation needed] In 1967, the United States Supreme Court unanimously ruled in Loving v. Virginia that anti-miscegenation laws are unconstitutional. With this ruling, these laws were no longer in effect in the remaining 16 states that at the time still enforced them.

Actually, things were a lot better organized and thought out in Maine. And we still lost it.

Octane was right, though. We're simply not wanted int his country. Our benefit is a kiss of death to almost any law out there.

I want em! Not for myself necessarily, but to have as countrymen and women, sure! Americans are Americans, no matter what!

Cept when push comes to shove on the ballot box. Love us until it benefits us, then we're the corruptors of the youth. ******** this country. ******** it's people.
Actually, down here in OK, I've begun to notice that the atmosphere has begun to change since the Sally Kern incident. Maybe people just don't wanna be associated with someone who claims gays are more dangerous than terrorists, but I've begun to be able to be more open about my sexuality, to the point that Izumicon, which I'm attending, has all day speed dating for all sexualities now (which came up after someone jokingly commented that there were only heterosexuals--the one in charge of the event then apologized like mad, commenting that she'd been so stressed as she's running about ten different long-term events over three days it had slipped her mind and she's accidentally typed opposite sex instead of just saying another person, because she herself is heterosexual and she defaulted to it while her brain was, essentially, off. We all knew she had put it on accident, as she's a sweet girl, and had stated earlier she was happy to be in charge of speed dating because she would be sure to make it equal opportunity).
If it's not a thread about debating gay marriage, why'd you feel the need to mention that you're against it? =/
