(Small) Evolution Speech Help

Can you guys give me your input on Evolution? I have a speech in the moring... and this is all i have... I have to be in front of the class for at least 2 minutes... O_O neutral
What is something else I can add to this?

We all have been taught “The Theory of Evolution” at one point of our lives. Most of us were in High School, and some of us were in Middle School. To me, as the years go on, the theory of evolution is being studied at younger ages every year. Simply because it is required for certain schools to “go over” it at least once. But for younger generations, it can be hard to understand, or become interested in. Especially for those who have high religious values/morals. I am choosing to not to compare my own religious views for the sake of this topic.
With research, I found out that Butterflies, nor Frogs, are examples of Evolution. Evolution is backed up by evidence. The theory of Evolution states:

“The children of the parent will be slightly different from them. Most of the children will die, and the most suitable will survive.”
“Survival of the Fittest”

You do not believe or not believe in evolution. You either accept it or not.

“If you deny that the Scientific Theory is true, you should understand that Theory and Religious believers can never argue effectively.”
Some believe that it threatens their Religion or is just plain wrong.
So, they deny it COMPLETELY. They deem a person/group of Theorists as evil. In some cases there was name calling; such as Heathens or Anti-Christ’s. Those are the only names that I have witnessed throughout my research in chat rooms/forums.

The theory of evolution doesn’t negate the existence of a higher being, or voids what the Bible explains.


I am not here to convince you to accept Evolution. It’s just a step further in understanding the way others feel and view our world.

I actually do not understand why you are talking about religion in this paper? You'll get graded poorly if the subject is evolution. In my opinion if I were grading you that portion would be just filler. Saying it's controversial is one thing, but the way you approach this is more or less offensive.

2 minutes? That is totally not enough time. In college I did a 7 minute speech on harmonicas. Harmonicas are MUCH simpler than evolution.

First of all, NEVER say "I" in an informative speech. NEVER. So take out the part about "I am choosing not to compare my own religious views..." OUT. That's way too informal, and the statement is obvious. In other words, it's a filler sentence and makes your speech look lazy.

Also, you strawman'd the religious argument. That's a BIG no-no in a speech.

You could use more examples of evidence of evolution.. such as microevolution.
Most people also don't fully understand that evolution on our scale takes millions of years.
Also I wouldn't bring up religion at all.

In an informative speech, you probably can and SHOULD talk about the debate. Just don't strawman anyone's position.
