Single Parenting vs Married Parenting

Two - parent families and Single parent families, both situations have there pros and cons. No situation is perfect.
I believe you can be a good parent no matter what situation you are in, it all comes down to how you choose to deal with it. smile

Statistics show that children from fatherless households tend to not do as well as those who do have the traditional two-parent household. In addition, problems like adolescent pregnancy seem to be extenuated for girls who do not have fathers in their lives.

Now, with this being said, I want to emphasize the point that these are tendencies and not definites. Coming from a single-parent household does not automatically mean that one will become a failure nor does coming from a two-parent household mean that one will become a success. I've noticed many of you that posted before me are from single-parent households and you seem to be doing just fine. However, as these stats show, there is a greater chance for success when there are two parents and that is definitely something to keep in mind.

Mostly confused

Single parenting is rarely through choice, it doesn't need to be justified.

So the mother who became a widow because her husband was killed in action in war is through choice?? Just because something is a choice =/= it doesn't need to be justified. I can choose to kill thousands of people yet in court, I will be asked to justify my actions.

Well I mean... considering how a single parent household is much more likely to have fewer resources available to them and a single income.. Id say its true for the most part kids in single parent households have it worse.
