Welcome to Gaia! ::

You know, SHARING files, and such..?
The RIAA ((? I THINK tha'ts it)) protects so many pop artist's music now..

Saying they lose countless illions..

BNut, if that was so true, how come britney, eminem, and jessica are the richest ******** iv america, practically..?

10 pools, foreign cars worth more than 300,000$...

Private jets..

Should they RIAA really block free downloading, and sue people?

Personally, I think their 'losing million's is complete and utter bullshit..

Besides, 'im too ******** poor to pay 20$ for a cd with only two songs I like..

Downloading is easier...

And makes music more fun..

The only people that are whinning about losing money are the recording companies. I used to download music all of the time until Napster decided to put $5 a song.
I ca'nt find ANY music that doesnt have viruses, or is corrupted now..

Kazaa is ******** FLOODED with s**t like that..

Its not really gunna stop many people the good thing is i use a relitively unknown download program so yeah.
There's still ways to pirate music. I'm not going to list any ways here, because it involves hacking into other people's servers.

But Artists are randomly putting viruses in their MP3's on Kazaa so people won't be DLing them much longer.

That kinda s**t went out like more then 10 years ago.
companies count the millions of dollars they lost by the ammount of files downloaded, but really without this alternative most people wouldn't buy the cd anyways.

apparently there was a similar controversy when cassettes were able to record.
In my opinion, if you care about a band or an artist, you're going to buy their albums. Especially in the cases of smaller, less-known bands.

Wha..?
This is basically like the old days when me and my friends would trade cassettes. Only difference now is that it's on a worldwide scale. So of course the RIAA would freak out.

Let 'em. They should be getting the message that most of the albums out there these days are crap, but they're still making a profit, so of course they won't get the message. If they go through a couple of quarters with an overall loss, then they have a right to b***h about technology biting into their profits.

What should they do then? Adapt. They'll have to come up with a damned good reason to go legit, not just "ZOMG we'll sue you into teh stone age!!!!!1111ONE"... give us incentive to buy from you!

What will they instead do? Take what little credibility they have and let it go down the crapper and fade into obscurity and irrelevance.

But chances are the CDs only have 1 or 2 songs at the most that are good. I can just burn the good songs on CDs with other good songs to make a great CD. It's cheaper then buying a $15 CD.
no...because the music companies would go bankrupt(no new music) and also it violates international copyright laws

Well, you can still pay for a download of that song, then. You're still supporting the artist in that way.
