I'm talking about how they dress. Not what they're face looks like.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

And how they dress is just fine. Most of your crap from Abercrombie is stolen from 50's casual wear. Who's old now?

@Konata: If I was the kind to squee, I would for that.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

So now jeans and a t-shirt qualifies as 50's wear? And I don't even wear Abercrombie.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

Polo shirts, knitted vests and dress pants are.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Some people happen to like them. I for one don't. So don't put that stereotype on me, because I don't wear that crap.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

Then don't project your own mindless clone and lacking in a social life stereotypes on us, you dippy cow.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

I never called you a mindless clone, I said the schoolboard is attempting to turn us into that.
May I ask what a dippy cow is?

There are some positives with uniforms but our concern should be the students' progress & conduct. In this setting, the clothes do not make the man.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

But what they don't understand is that students could give two shits less if their clothing distracts them from school.

Students couldn't give two shits if they get educated. Until they reach the real world and have their "********! WHAT DO I DO NOW?" moment.

She's an idiot.

We probably can't communicate with her, so detatched is she from reality.

Shall we abandon the thread now, or later?

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

So I'm an idiot because I wont submit to crappy clothes that I don't want to wear?

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

Not at all.

The rot clearly goes deeper than that.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Care to explain?

Pretty much. And putting us into uniforms really isn't going to change that fact.

But you have. You've said time and time again that uniforms make us mindless clones. We wore uniforms. We are not mindless clones.

If anything, you're the one perpetuating the conformity mentality. You want everyone to conform to what you say and are having delusions of being liberal.
i dont like uniforms neither because make me feel a little embarassed when i walk to school (good thing i transferred and that school no one wears uniform)

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

I know right. Its just embarrassing walking around like that all day. I don't see how others think otherwise. If they want to wear uniforms, they can wear uniforms. But we shouldn't have to if we don't like them.

You're making it clearer than I ever could.

You have suggested to me, me the art student, me the student of design, I who have been in a film and I who propose such radical political concepts as applied eugenics, that I have been turned into a midless clone by the pure fact of my old school uniform.

And you do this, apparently without any sense of irony, whilst repeating the same inflexible and unimaginative dogma about uniforms turning children into clones, and about how you refuse to wear a unifom on these grounds.

Truly, my explanation here cannot hold a candle to the evidence dripping from your every post.

Then the obvious solution is to change school, rather than to complain and pretend that your clothes have more say over who you are than you do.

Edit: This should be obvious. It really should.
I'm attending a uniformed school right now.

I personally like my uniform, just because I my mom refuses to purchase me new "normal" clothing. (You try going to a non-uniform schopol with one pair of jeans and seven t-shirts. Seriously.)

I don't have to get up early to scan my wardrobe for my outfit of the day, and I fit in with my peers. I haven't been made fun of for my clothing since I entered highschool.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Yet, you still haven't listed one good thing about uniforms. If people can think of so many cons, why keep them?

But its fun scanning your wardrobe for an outfit.
And you can fit in just as easily. Its all about your attitude, not as much your clothes.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

Eh, close enough

I never understood what the big deal about uniforms is. I mean, I hear other teens spouting bullshit about them capping off your creativity and individuality, but I've never seen this in action. Your creativity shouldn't apply to only the clothes you wear, and your individuality shouldn't either. I'm not even going to bring up the fact that most kids in high schools wear the same stuff anywa- s**t. Forget that last part.
Also, 99% of schools have some form of art class. Use one of them to be creative.

Pros:
You don't need to buy a lot of clothes.
It's not hard to pick out what's going to stop you from being a creative individual in the morn.
You won't get made fun of for having different clothes.
"Gangstas" are funny as hell to watch in uniforms.
Kids can't ditch a class without having to change clothes. Everyone will know what school they go to just by uniform.

Because I'll never be a terrorist

i. They limit the extent of social cliques and the subsequent bullying.

ii. They instil a sense of collegiate pride and tradition, and at any rather you'd look stupid shambling into Chapel dressed like a damned preppie, or goth, or whatever else.

iii. They make life simpler for students who may not always have sufficient funds at home to keep up with current trends.

iv. They make it easier to keep track of students and non-students, and thus help protect the school grounds from unathorised outside youths.

v. They look smart and help to get students used to holding themselves to the levels of personal dress and grooming needed in any modern and professional workplace.

vi. They prevent students defining themselves by their clothing, and encourage more productive, cretive and intelligent forms of self-expression.
