Since I really don't give two shits about what I wear, school uniforms don't bother me.

I'm going to assume that you don't want a job? Most jobs require uniforms or have a strict dress code. School is just preparing you for the real world.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

I'm really not concerned about what will happen once I turn eighteen. Being a kid is about having fun, not acting like an adult.

They're ugly as s**t. (I haven't met one person who disagrees with this)

I kinda disagree with this. :O

Seriously, when I was younger I saw uniforms as the neatest thing.
I don't know how to explain it...I think it might've been from my sister watching Sailor Moon. >.>

All their school uniforms were so cool. o-o;;
But yeah...they're anime girls, uniforms like that don't exist in real life...I was 3 or 4, kay? D:

Mmm, but yeah, most people who aren't weirdo's like me deffinietly would apreciate expressing themselves through their clothes, and why should they be held back from doing so?

When you think about it, it is a bit interesting to hear people expressing there individuality though the clouths they wear. To me its interesting because unless you made the clouthing yourself, someone else made it and designed it and therefore almost everyone alive is basicly copying someone else in whatever they wear.

Kind of reminds me of an episode of family guy where stewie is describing his myspace page...........filled with songs and movies made by other people, but I use them to express my individuality.Something like that anyway.

Dude. Before you said how it reminded you of that part in FG....it reminded me of that part in FG, too. eek

...Anyways, I believe of course it's not exaclty their induvisualism, but it's something they relate to, yeah?

It's like that why I feel the emo genre is so popular among this generation of teens?
A lot of teens feel close or near the same way the genre expresses life, even if they didn't write or sing the song, they can still interpret that song and make it relate to their feelings....same with clothes and what-not...

(Sorry if I'm not making any sense, I'm trying to get into the habit of replying to people...)
YourOwnDisasterx3
What do you think about school uniforms? What are its cons and pros?
Personally, I can barely think of any pros about them. But somehow many people can.
Cons;
Lack of creativity
Everyone looks the same
They're ugly as s**t. (I haven't met one person who disagrees with this)

And many people say it prevents people being made fun of because they can't afford brand names. That isn't really the reason. If there's one person who dresses from Wal-Mart, one from Hollister, and one from Hot Topic, guess who is getting made fun of? The hot topic one. I'm not saying that it is right, I'm just saying that that is usually how it is. Not the people who can't afford brand names.
Discuss ;P

Wal-Mart vs Hollister vs Hot Topic? And Hot Topic gets made fun of? No, kid, they're gonna pin-point that Wal-Mart mother ******** for how cheap their parents are. Hot Topic: Shirts for $25. Wal-Mart: Shirts for $5. They DO pick on the kids who can't afford the brand-names. Why? Because poverty is one factor the whole world doesn't share.

---

As to uniforms, I really don't see that the objections made against them are anything more than whiny teenagers being whiny teenagers. "Oh, they limit our creativity in school!" No, they don't. Creativity in a school environment has jack s**t to do with what you're wearing. It has to do with how you behave and how you do in creative classes like art. School isn't for creativity. School is for learning. If you can't accept that, get home-schooled, then you can wear anything you like.

Also; I'm the person who disagrees. I've got a school uniform (colors, only collared button-up or polo shirts, khaki pants only, the whole shebang) and I still manage to look <egotism> pretty ********' stellar most days </egotism>.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Well it isn't exactly individuality. Its what we like. And none of us like clothes that make us look like we're in our late nineties.

I'm guessing people pro-uniform weren't very social.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

So uniforms have the magical ability to produce grey hair and wrinkles? And whether or not we were social is subjective and irrelevant.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

I'm talking about how they dress. Not what they're face looks like.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

And how they dress is just fine. Most of your crap from Abercrombie is stolen from 50's casual wear. Who's old now?

@Konata: If I was the kind to squee, I would for that.

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

So now jeans and a t-shirt qualifies as 50's wear? And I don't even wear Abercrombie.

If they were so creative, they'd find more creative ways of expressing their so-called individuality.

If they feel limited by their uniform, ******** 'em. They're clearly not possessed of much creativity anyway.

How's that for a response?

Right because telling a painter he can't paint means he will become a singer. Oh wait no. I'm creative at writing but if somebody tells me I can't write I don't suddenly become creative at matching clothes or drawing.

No, a correct analogy would be you can't paint at work where your job is to stock shelves. You can paint on your own time.

@OP: Prove a uniform makes you a mindless clone. And why the hell would you do homework in your uniform?

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Well who is going to see you while you do homework? Yes, thats exactly what I'll do. I'll go flirt with guys while I'm doing my homework. =/

And it makes you a mindless clone because you look just like everyone else. It solves no problems; it only creates them.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

Study groups, online chats, phone time, texting. Whammo, four chances for your precious flirting. Its not my fault that you can't figure out to study with friends. Nor is it the uniform's fault.

Prove a uniform makes you mindless and a clone. I have a mind and I've never met an exact copy of myself. I just refuted your argument.

My entire ensemble was a tenner. 4 buck jeans of indeterminable brand and age from a charity shop, a free t shirt my brother got with his special edition The Warriors game that didn't fit him and budget undergarments. It'd be $94 if I was wearing my boots but only because they are proper steel toe working boots.
