....ugh!...the collared shirts.....what are we all, dogs?.....i know you hate wearing the retarded uniforms, but is it going to hurt you?.....physically or mentally?......you are being ignorant and downright pathetic by wasting your time whining about this crap......it only supresses your creativity and individuality to a very minimal extent.......slipping on a "hot" outfit is not the most creative thing in my opinion....no offense.....
......i have to wear a retarded uniform, i do close to nothing to my hair(i keep it neat and clean, but no dying or straightening etc..).......yet my personality....stands out(maybe a bit too much!).......so why do people moan and groan and complain about this insignifigant little topic?........only an extremely shallow person cannot be herself/himself while wearing these stupid articles of clothing........again.....no offense!........
"I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player too.

And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you."

Completely agreed.
"Oh my! I can't wear my boob-tube or my mini-skirt! This school uniform restricts my creativity! I can no longer be an individual, clothing is the only way I can possibly express myself!"

"Now you play a pretty good fiddle, boy, but give the devil his due,

I'll bet a fiddle of gold against your soul, 'cos I think I'm better than you."

I don't have a problem with school uniforms. Actually I prefer them because I don't have to worry about what I have to wear for the day.
This is the main reason. I've had a uniform as soon as I was able to go to school [pre-school-12th] All we have to wear is polo shirt of white or school color and black pants[use to be khaki]. We have the freedom of accessories.

Ditto.
We have a white polo shirt, and a choice of navy skirts, shorts or pants.
Well... I did. I graduated last night.
The only restriction for accessories is anything that could be a hazard, like giant hoop earrings that could be torn from your ear if something gets caught in them.

So your saying state enforced conformaty is good? Forcing gender roles? What of originality?

But really, what the hell is the point of 'uni'forms? I think its just a stupid waste of time. Hell I only have one choice of lunch, but let me have choice over what I put over my body, give me that much.

......you know what,....i have been trying to figure that out since.....i forgot.......i ask every now and then and they give me the stupidest, most notsowellthought out answers: trying to "prevent" gang violence; girls came in showing belly buttons and buttcracks; so that you can concentrate better on classwork; so that no one is judged by how they are dressed; um, you'll have to ask someone else, i'm not for sure, but you have to obey the rules ; some of us cannot afford to buy clothes at the mall; and even: everyone should be equal........it all confuses the living squeeee out of me.....its as if they pull these little excuses out of their asses at the last moment.......
I can express myself differntly, but why NOT in clothing? It removes a medium of expression.

and its not only that, what if I like the way some cloths fit on me, what if I like certain fabric types, everybody is differnt, not only in taste, but what makes them cormfatable, so forcing kids to wear the same thing can leave some kids uneasy.

Uniforms restrict bullying
Hardly, people still nag about how somebody talks, looks, how their hair is all done up, their skin, they acne, blah blah

give the students a sense of school pride
It gives the what? How does forcing verybody to wear the exact same thing promote school pride? and why is that a 'good' thing anyway?
Quote:
save parents and students money
Unless they wear ONLY uniforms out of school, no it doesnt.

make it easier for police to recognise truanting
...what?

and allow the public to see what students come from which school.
again, unles they force their students to wear them off campus, no it doesnt, and again, how the hell is that good?

Out-landish clothing and distracting exposeure are dealt with.

as for bullies, should we all not speak, be the same height, not expose our skin color, our gender, our our face and hair? bullies will exist int he same manner with or without uniforms, I mean most schools I see that enforce uniforms have equal or worse bulling than those of more liberal dress codes.

and yet you can affored computer and internet acces, and if you cant buy a basic shirt and jeans, then you should contact social services.
......ha! you should have heard some of the teachers and staff when i asked what the purpose of the uniform is!.....ohmygod.....they repeatedly used the word "um"(if you can consider it a word)....and didn't appear all too inteligent........they work up a rancidly smelly sweat over the clothes, yet they ignore things such as giant hoop earings and the occasional cleavage!........
If you are worried about the restrictions of your creativity and personal identity I suggest you use that oh so abundant creativity to find a way to express yourself in a uniform but stay inside the rules. We have som girls at my school who took their uniforms to another level be engaging in loopholes. Like Some people wear black boots to school of any fashion because our uniform allowed black shoes, but didn't say anything about boots. And other girls use leggings that are tasteful and within reason because the uniform polocy said nothing about them either.

I shouldnt have to jump through hoops to be me. Why should I be forced to be grouped with the skin head beside me?

twisted ...i have these shoes.....and they have these holes in the front.....and i made some claws that stick out through the holes......people were somewhat scared....some of my teachers were looking down at my feet.....no dress code violation, right?......is that self expression enough?...... twisted
I'm just saying make the most out of the uniform.
.....its kind of sad that what we wear to school, some of us would not be seen in in the real world.....and is anyone still here?.....
I am. I mostlikely have my veiw because I'm use to it. Having had uniforms since pre-school.

You sir, should probably spend more time thinking about your schoolwork then about your clothing.
You wanna go put on a fashion parade? Do it in your own time.
You go to school to be educated, not put on a dazzling display at how wonderfully 'Unique' and 'non-conforming' you are.
You try telling your employer that you won't wear the uniform and see how it goes down with them.

"Now you play a pretty good fiddle, boy, but give the devil his due,

I'll bet a fiddle of gold against your soul, 'cos I think I'm better than you."
I wore a uniform from when I was 2 years old until I was 18 and I see nothing wrong with them. My uniform was smart, it was sensible and it didn't affect my 'individuality'. Honestly, if they only way you can express yourselves is through your clothes, perhaps you aren't as creative as you first thought? Here in the UK it's incredibly rare to go to a school without a uniform, it prepares you for the real world where employers will ask you to wear either a uniform or there will be strict guidlines in place as to what you can and cannot wear. Why do you feel the need to go to school wearing your own clothes anyway? How is it a good thing to have girls with their cleavage showing, with their thongs hanging out the back of their jeans and for boys to have their jeans so baggy that they're practically around their ankles? You are at school to learn, you don't go to make a fashion statement. You can still be sociable and individual without having to dress up for school, and it makes it about a hundred times easier to get up in the morning and just pop on your uniform as opposed to trying to find a 'matching outfit' so you can parade around school. Try telling every doctor, nurse, pilot, judge, police officer etc that uniforms are stupid and that no one should wear them.
