for goodness sake end this! these are the same agruement repeated over and over bottom line uniforms aren't bad hell, my school has them and everything still the same same groups same jocks same little slut who 'alter their close to show cleavage and legs. only difference is everyone has a similar outfit which people find was to circle around (wearing jackets, doubling shirts all kinds of crap)

Even though I disagree with school uniforms, I facepalmed a lot reading the OP's post.

The "OH EM GEE IT'S TAKING AWAY OUR INDIVIDUALITY AND CREATIVITY!!!!!1!" argument is utter bull. If you want to be creative, try art, writing, music, acting, etc. If you cant figure out another way to be creative than through your clothing, well, you don't have very much creativity to begin with. If you wear a uniform, it's not like you become an effing robot all out of a sudden.

The "school is for socializing and I need to know what kind of people I should be friends with" argument is also stupid. Firstly, school isn't for socializing. Even if that's what you do at school, that's still not the purpose of school. And even if it were, it's shallow to start talking to someone because of clothing. You know, I just wear what's comfortable, so I don't really have a clothing style. And you know what clothing style my best friend is into? Fashion core. Yet, we still have a lot in common.

So, why am I opposed to uniforms? Because of comfort. If you wear a school uniform, chances are that it will be uncomfortable. And, if you feel uncomfortable, it will be a lot harder to concentrate at your studies.

A lot of you seriously need to get off of gaia and pay attention to what goes on in your high school. Aside from in class. Because unless you go to some weird fancy private school, most kids are shallow bitches.
And no, we're not going to do retarded art of writing or music. Because all of it is boring as s**t. Uniforms are uncomfortable, most people don't like them, don't stop bullying, and make it ten times harder to make friends. The only pro is to attract parents. And that isn't a big enough reason that uniforms should be issued.

I have a question. If you're not willing to seriously listen to other people's opinions, or actually hold a debate with people about them; why did you start a thread in the ED?

he has a point and BTW my school has uniforms and just about everyone says the same things that you say and guess what they all wear the uniforms and suck it up. Also, Why so serious, you went from trying to prove a point to running a smear campaign against ED very mature P.S. im sixteen not a 30 year old guy nor do i act like it i am just deep not shallow

Mmk, well I've come to realize that the majority of people on gaia have had their head in a book their entire school life and haven't gone to any normal high schools. No use debating with people who act like they're thirty years older than they're supposed to be.
Have fun when your ninety and realize, "Oh s**t, I didn't do one fun thing in my life" But then again, you guys probably enjoy studying for six hours wearing the most hideous outfits you can find.
;P Have fun with that.

╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

So I can't study and have a good time? Beyond the fact that I often enjoy studying--I do get out of my books and do things, OP. I went to Ozzfest two years in a row, caught the drumstick from one of my favorite bands; and got to see 4 bands from the mosh pit. I attended the second biggest anime convention on the west coast 4 years in a row, and worked staff one of them. During those cons, I got to see major musical acts from Japan perform incredible stage shows. I've skipped class to spend awesome times with my friends, I've been to parties.

And you know what I'm going to really fun doing? Seeing girls like you who made fun of me all through school be somebody's low-paid underlings in 20 years, when I'll have my degree and be working at an important job I enjoy.

My school has a casual dresscode for now, but kids have been violating it an awfull lot.

Some of the restrictions are no tank tops, not shorts more then 3' above the knee, no baggy pants (boys who dont wear belts and wear pants 3x their size) Nothing see-through, no flipflops, spandex, backpacks, shirts that show clevage or ripped clothes.
People in my school still violate the very VERY flimsy code we have..

They were threatening us with a kaki pant and polo shirt dress code last year, but never enforced it.

Honestly, Id take a school uniform over kaki pants and polos if it ever came down to it..

hey! thats our unifrom khaki and polos in certian colors. wonder who came up with that...

Our mother ******** golf crazy schoolboard.

I dont want to be going to school every day looking like I want to play a few rounds of birdie.

Plz.

Hopefully our teachers do a better job this year of enforcing the dress code we have.

Is the kaki polo code expensive?

You talk about how people can't express them selves wearing uniforms (which is a load of bonk) but your the one who snaps every time someone states their opinion. Ironic?
While i don't really support the idea of uniforms (just 'cause I like what I wear) but they don't sap every bit of your creativity out of your body. stare I honestly find it very childish to change schools on something as trivial as uniforms. While they do take a LITTLE bit of your individuality away, if you can't learn to live and express your self with uniforms I have to say that is rather pathetic.

Thank you - Hannah fxcking Chase

I had to wear school uniforms in elementary school, I hated but then again I liked it because I already knew what I had to wear

We've told you again and again but I guess I'll tell it to you again. I just got out of high school about three months ago and several other people here are in college. I doubt anything has changed since they were in high school. In fact, I'll bet a lot of people in this thread are in high school. No, I didn't go to a fancy private school, but I can tell you without a fact that not all teens are shallow bitches. We've given you tons of reasons school uniforms should be allowed but I'll list them again.

1. Cost. For the most part, it's cheaper to buy a few sets of uniforms for the week than a new wardrobe. You can even buy cheaper uniforms at discount places.

2. Professional look. When people actually look nice and aren't breaking the dress code left and right, the school actually looks like an institution of learning rather than the mall.

3. Dicipline. Some schools could really use more rules and uniforms promote more dicipline among the students. Granted, this may not always work.

4. Less distractions. Now, I don't know about you, but when someone is dressed like they came out of a Halloween party or like they're going to a rave, I tend to stare. If people would just dress in a decent way, it'd cause less distractions for other students.

And the list goes on. What's wrong with the art of music or writing? Don't you know? The pen is mightier than the sword.

Kids don't know how to express themselves if all they can think of is clothes. Besides, most kids end up copying the style of someone from TV so they all end up looking the same anyway. Most kids don't have an original style. They're just a clone of 40+ other kids at their school.

I went to a Catholic high school where we didn't have uniforms, but a dress code. A very strict dress code. The school didn't provide us with clothing that we could purchase (from the school), or a list of places around town that sold clothing that fit into the dress code.

Do you have any idea how hard it was to find clothing every year that fit into the guidelines of the dress code?

I would have given my right arm for uniforms!! And if anyone replies to this post with a whiny "but that keeps you from expressing yourself and being creative!" response, please, spare me. If you took a look at us in high school, the only thing that set us apart from one another was the color of our Polo shirts.
