School Uniforms really don't stop the whole labeling and making fun of other kids for their clothes.

Girls find a way around it, make fun of girls who are fat, tell them their uniform is too tight, make fun of people's legs ect ect.

And a lot of the girls who wear uniforms love to roll up their skirts, the little skanks.

They tend to love the title of "Naughty school girl" and totally play off of it, it's disgusting.

We have a Catholic school here, and a lot of the girls call themselves "Naughty school girls" or "Naughty Catholic school girls"

So basically, it gives teen girls even more reason to be little sluts.

And not every school allows you to wear Jewlary so you can't always use wearing jewlary or makup as a way to 'express' yourself in a uniformed school.

Um, actually, you can. I've met people who did. My boyfriend wears button-up shirts and nice pants, and listens to extremely heavy metal. I often wear geeky T-shirts or metal band T-shirts, and I listen to a lot of jazz and celtic music, besides heavy metal. What you dress like is only an indicator of one facet of your personality.

Uniforms can be good.
There are too many schools where the girls, and boys, aren't wearing what they should.
Whether is be cleavage showing shirts or the oh so popular sagging pants.

Plus, not all uniforms are ugly.
Some can be quite cute and colorful. Plus uniforms seem to be more common at this time.
I've seen kids whom don't go to uniform school wearing them.
People like picking out their own clothes, yes, but once you get used to them, you're fine.
It's not going to kill you to wear certain clothes. It may annoy you, but really it's not a terrible thing.

actually she has a valid point that you need to recognise. once you have degree X, your employer knows you can do the job. the interview is mostly to pick a person that they want in their company, someone that they feel they click with and will represent them well. so when two people have the same degree, and one goes in there being a smart-a** but dressed in a jeans and a moderate top, while the other goes in there being pleasant and formal in a pants suit ... chances are the one in the pants suit will get the job. no one gives a s**t about your individuality in the workplace for most corporations. professionalism is the order of the day and if you dont show it you wont make it past a certain level. how many ceo's or people in upper management have VISIBLE tattoos? simple things to ponder in this era where many are getting those cute little stars on their hands. you are in effect culling yourself from the herd. thank you. you have made my path easier.

I didn't mean go to an interview looking like you came out of a dumpster. What I'm saying is that it's not necessary to wear brand names clothes, make-up, or doll yourself up. Your employers aren't going to care how pretty you look in your new dress and besides, the workplace pretty much has its own uniform now. The suit and tie are the office man/woman's uniforms now and some companies have their own uniforms you have to wear. It's not necessary for you to waste time thinking about it because you'll just end up wearing the same thing as everyone else you work with.

Studying does not mean you're acting older. Actually, studying means you are acting your age. You have to realize you're not a baby anymore. These four years of high school will probably determine a lot about your future. It'll determine where you get into college, which in turn will determine what kind of jobs are available to you, which in turn will determine what kind of salary you'll make. If you want a comfortable life later, then you better crack open a book. That isn't to say you can't have fun now. It just means you have to balance out work and play.

School uniforms are great because they remove common indicators about certain people. The reason this is good is because it basically makes people more equal, in a sense "united" as the group to which they belong that requires such a thing as school uniforms.

It's the same as when you're at a nice arrangement and everyone is wearing a suit. It's not to show off, but rather a way of respecting the given action, on the same time taking away attention from individual glamour.

(Yes, I know that regarding both school uniforms and the suit example, some people circumvent the idea and use it to be "awesome" and "unique". Which fails hard.)

s**t, i'm a teenager too. i'm 18 years old, and to be honest, if you put my life under a microscope, then you'd know that i'm hardly prepared for the 'adult world'. but i have been around long enough to know that you're never going to get anywhere if the only thing you're concerned with is the way you look.
