There definitely seems to be a fine line.
Some people are just really stupid. We really are all humans, we're driven by the same exact things. We grow up in different areas with different cultures but we're all ridiculously similar.
Some people can't handle difference, though. I don't understand it.

I have friends who arn't english who are lovely people but it does bother me when they don't behave like english people when they live here.

Maybe you would understand if you moved to a different country with completely different customs, especially if you moved when you're an adult since your birth country's customs have been drilled into your brain for decades.

First, culture changes. It doesn't stay the same. Get used to it.

Second, you're overlooking how hard it is to be a different nationality. A person of a different nationality grew up in a different country with completely different customs. Then they move to your country and you expect them to suddenly "act English"? Plus, learning a language when you're an adult is a lot harder than when you're a kid or a teen. People don't "magically" learn a new language. Anyway, that's why people of the same nationality stick together. Because they share the same culture. And they don't have to encounter people like you.

My issue isn't with foreigners coming to this country. It's not even with foreigners coming to this country. I don't even necessarily have an issue with illegal immigration.

What I hate is when foreigners come here illegally and then act like they have a right to get handouts from the government such as welfare. ******** that noise. I shouldn't have to pay a s**c's bills because his country is ******** up.

Also, it seems more and more as if my country (Canada) is being sectioned off into districts based on race, you have the whites, the Asians and the Indians and they all seem to live separately.
You go to some places here and wont hear a word of English and people will look at you funny for being 'not of their race', store signs are in another language other than English ... sometimes it doesn't even feel like Canada at all but like I've crossed the street and somehow stepped through the fabric of space and time and landed myself in China.

And then I think, yeah, if I was an immigrant why would I bother to assimilate if I could just live in my own cultural bubble to? I kind of blame the government for that.

England has an imaginary heritage for a lot of the citizenry, which seems to exist in a weird parralel universe where Britain was responsible for winning World War 2 single handedly and everyone lives in a perpetual 1945 victory parade filled with only white people.

Look, I have nothing against people keeping their culture and traditions and whatnot. All I ask--all I expect of anyone going to any country is that they LEARN THE FRIGGIN LANGUAGE! Is that too much to ask?

If I were to go to Germany, I would expect to have to learn German.
If I were to go to Japan, I would expect to have to learn Japanese.
Going to China? Learn Chinese. Mexico? Learn Spanish!

So why, oh WHY is it that everyone and their grandma thinks they can waltz over here--where it's quite evident that the main language of the country is ENGLISH--and expect to NOT need to learn to speak friggin English only to whine, b***h, and moan about how "unfair" it is and how they were SO "mistreated" because nobody could understand what the hell they were saying because nobody at a hospital or court or agency could speak their natural language? I'm not talking about tourists who are just coming to visit or are on vacation. I'm talking about people coming into this country (a good number of them ILLEGALLY) to live, expecting everyone here to cater to their needs.

And you can say that English isn't the "official language". And you can say they have a "right to their culture" and whatnot. I don't CARE. I'm just tired of hearing these people WHINE because we're not catering to them when they can't even be BOTHERED to TRY and learn to talk to us.

Sadly, NOT every "stereotypical" American that complains can take up the torch they speak off... thus, no one respect hypocrites.
