Look, I have nothing against people keeping their culture and traditions and whatnot. All I ask--all I expect of anyone going to any country is that they LEARN THE FRIGGIN LANGUAGE! Is that too much to ask?

If I were to go to Germany, I would expect to have to learn German.
If I were to go to Japan, I would expect to have to learn Japanese.
Going to China? Learn Chinese. Mexico? Learn Spanish!

So why, oh WHY is it that everyone and their grandma thinks they can waltz over here--where it's quite evident that the main language of the country is ENGLISH--and expect to NOT need to learn to speak friggin English only to whine, b***h, and moan about how "unfair" it is and how they were SO "mistreated" because nobody could understand what the hell they were saying because nobody at a hospital or court or agency could speak their natural language? I'm not talking about tourists who are just coming to visit or are on vacation. I'm talking about people coming into this country (a good number of them ILLEGALLY) to live, expecting everyone here to cater to their needs.

And you can say that English isn't the "official language". And you can say they have a "right to their culture" and whatnot. I don't CARE. I'm just tired of hearing these people WHINE because we're not catering to them when they can't even be BOTHERED to TRY and learn to talk to us.

You have my sympathy. I feel especially bad for the kids of these people. They do learn the language out of necessity, but they get stuck playing translators for their parents from then on. You ever see a child sworn in during court because there was no one else who could translate? It's rather irritating.

Yeah I love how all the Americans are like speak our language dudes.

Americans don't even speak English nor do we speak any other languages; but in the same breath want the whole world to speak American. (Even when we leave to visits other places like France, Germany, and of course Mexico.) Irony FTF!

This is why suck btw and last I check we aren't the number one country so maybe we need to get the stick out of our asses and at least start speaking one other language from one of the better countries.

I feel that all the differnt natinalitys are destroying my countrys natural heritage. I have friends who arn't english who are lovely people but it does bother me when they don't behave like english people when they live here. If we go out there we have to follow their customs so why don't they follow ours? I don't think the olden days when other races were forced to be slaves is right because were all equal. I would like to hear your thoughts on this matter.

They ARE english, you are english if you are born in england or live there, though it is disturbing that english is becoming synonymous with "white english"

Its people like you that destroy nationalism, you reduce it to race or creed or ethnicity, tack on ridiculous ideas of in this case "Englishness" and somehow feel your multicultural society in the UK is being destroyed by "foreigners" You are nothing but a racist.

Nationalism is always lumped in with racism, because the small minded embrace abstract concepts of race and then apply that to everything. Real Nationalists would embrace immigration as vital to broadening the cultural horizons of the Nation, with others emigrating to join it as citizens, to be a part of and to become an asset to the nation through living and working within it, free from bigotry or racial hatred. I have a problem with illegal immigrants. The imposition of their culture upon mine is awkward too but I have no problem with them keeping it within their family or community of others who share similar culture tastes.
