I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to ask... I think I'm going to have to go with a no.

It sounds to me like you are a white person dealing with a stage of white identity development known as the resistance and immersion stage. During this stage of identity development, white people often over-identify with a minority culture they do not belong to.

Base on your post and a quick glance at your profile, it looks like you're over identifying with with the Japanese culture. Usually white people in this stage of racial identity development feel a lack of connectedness to their own race or are experiencing cognitive dissonance and "white guilt" because of increased awareness of their role as oppressors.

I was just going to ask if he was sure he wasn't just wishing he was Japanese, but this is far more articulate.

As to the OP and to that reply, without getting nazi about it, you can explore your own German culture a bit, and thin you won't be stealing cultural identity from the Japanese. Here are some topics to help get you started: mrgreen

1. Hitler
2. Nazis
3. Beer
4. Wagner
5. WWII

gonk Forget the list. Start with beer. Beer is good. mrgreen

It's more productive to just accept your whiteness.
Most Americans are not very in touch with their cultural heritage accept in very superficial ways (such as an appreciation of German beer). It's better to just accept that we are white, deal with what it means to be white, acknowledge that we have white privilege, and then work towards multiculturalism. Then we can hang out with people of other cultures without annoying the s**t out of them by jacking their cultures.

Or you could just have German Jewish ancestry. Jews migrated from elsewhere and have dark hair and eyes. Or just be German and happen to have dark eyes and hair since it is dominant.

The average "pure" German tests with having between 5% and 10% east Asian DNA. Similar markers are found in the Huns which would make it Chinese ancestry not Japanese.

Nice that you found at way to justify your weeabooness with a tenuous possible genetic explanation though. That's more than your average weeaboo. B+ for effort.

99% of DNA testing doesn't determine between Chinese and Japanese. A number of those tests can't even tell East Asian from Native American because they share many genetic markers! So you have some Eastern Asian ancestry? BFD. Most Europeans and especially Germans do. Nearly all research says it's Chinese/Mongol not Japanese.

DNA =/= culture. It's not your culture, even if it is a part of your genetic ancestry. You were obviously raised white/german. THAT is your culture regardless of any small genetic admixture.

No one is giving you anything, because there is no German-Asian culture to speak of. The mixing happened a very long time ago and the people were absorbed into the greater German culture. They were and are just Germans, not German hyphenates. The DNA is only still there because most early Germans married other Germans with similar backgrounds.

Weaboos want to be Japanese, not all of them spout random Japanese. The common thing is they refuse to accept they are actually white people and latch on to Japanese culture instead of their own.

It's like that episode of the Sarah Silverman Program. One of your German ancestors was raped by a Mongol. CONGRATULATIONS!

Why is it that people always correlate German's with Nazi's? Historically, they're not the only people who have done horrible things to a group because of their cultural differences. In the 1930's, no one wanted Jews. Jewish people went on a boat to, hopefully, escape the oppression within Germany. Countries such as Canada, U.S.A, and etc. rejected them and sent them back. Really, if anyone wants to get "Nazi" with Germany, you mind as well indicate how everyone was involved with their genocide. Being a bystander does not make us any better than the perpetrators.

well considering there is no such thing as german-asian culture, so I think you know all there is to know.

If your family is german you are in no way japanese, that is not to say there are no japanesse people that live in germany, it is just not common.

it is kind of like assuming that you are mexican because your family is irish, you have a more olive skin tone, and mexicans at some point lived in ireland.

oh, and if your family is german then they are european. not eurasian.

I'm Norwegian from my dads side... From my moms side, I think its just a mix of different Europeans, I guess. I think there's some German in there.

I have a strong German background as well, with thoroughly brown hair and brown eyes (although my appearance relates more to my Irish heritage than my German heritage). Thing is, as far as the way I was raised, it wouldn't matter whether there was a hint of any exotic culture in my blood, I was brought up without any sort of passed-down cultural heritage. And that's not a bad thing. I think that at a certain stage I was a bit sad about the lack of multi-generational family traditions (I still think it's more important that anyone else in my family, so it would seem, my mom has told me she's leaving several of the few things that have passed down a generation or two to me because she knows how I feel about it). But although we don't have the traditions passed down, my mom's side of the family has kept excellent track of our family genealogy. If you're really interested in your family history, I suggest doing research into it. Different organizations and websites can help you out quite a bit. Although we already had a documented family tree that kept track since before the Revolutionary War (there's even an interesting story about my ancestor Hannah Dustin who lived in the late 1600s), my mom was able to find pictures online of relatives several generations back. Easily. If you truly believe you have some Japanese blood in you, this might be a way to connect to it.

And for the records, us German's have more than just good beer, we have the Grimm Brothers, and a long history of making delicious sandwiches. And... being an unruly, un-unifiable land out in the middle of Europe for years.

Sorry for the mix up. I was being ridiculous on par with the OP. I am myself half German, so no harm meant.

Germans with dark hair could not only have Mongol ancestry, but Slavic blood as well. Most of the so-called 'White Russians' are actually descended from Germanic or Scandinavian merchants who established trade settlements on the Volga River, the most famous of which was Kiev. A number of Germans also settled in Romania, Hungary, and other Central European countries during the Middle Ages, and during the wars with the Ottoman Turks may no doubt have returned to Germany to escape the conflict.
As stated previously in this discussion, a number of Jews from Holland, Spain, and other countries also emigrated to Germany to escape religious persecution in their native lands, as before the Thirty Years War most Germans were quite tolerant of other faiths. One could argue that Germany was something of a 'melting pot' in the Middle Ages, as people from many countries settled there and were absorbed into the local population. As a final note, the concept of 'Aryan Supremacy' is a belief that did not exist in Germany until the 19th century and was accepted only by some members of the aristocracy and the intellectual elite, and until the rise of the Third Reich was not a widely accepted notion in Germany.
