Has anyone else noticed that the "Gcash" tab on the navigation bar is where the "My Gaia" spot used to be? As though they are trying now to trick us into perusing the great deals on gaia cash by using our habit of automatically hitting the second button on the navigation bar?

Or am I just paranoid?

I do not think I am because in the "shops" tab the cash shop button is now where the market place button used to be.

Do you think they are attempting to manipulate us, and if so how do you feel about it?

GoFusion is where the Forums tab used to be, so I accidentally clicked on that the other day. I definitely think it is a mistake they intend for many people to make. The fun-loving staff that used to make all the events and manga for the site have been replaced by a cadre of phantom marketers. They are only interested in what they can goad you to spend money on, nothing else.

They did make an announcement when they did it, and one before they did it was well. While I think they're trying to make it easier for us to see cash shop items, for obvious reasons, it's not like they're doing something subliminal.

The manipulation is not that the tabs and the button exist, but where they "just happened" to put them all.

I've already admitted the location of the buttons is likely intentional. That's not manipulation, that's taking advantage of a human trait, namely, that we are creatures prone to acting out of habit. So temporarily they get more traffic to the cash shop.

We also adapt quickly and develop new habits to replace ones that no longer make sense - this is what will eventually happen with the buttons.

I'm not mad about it. They gotta make money somehow. gaia_gaiagold

Liberal Consumer

It's not really psychological manipulation, but it is a shady business practice that profits off of what they know about you.

Gaia pretty clearly gives no shits about their actual product or services.

tbh i think they are frickin smart in doing this. and ultimately, the whole GG fiasco was supposed to lower everyone's standards for the site imo, although 3415641513 people left in the process.

But obviously, I disapprove and find it a lowly tactic at the same time.
Today's my first day back in a while and I honestly was so confused when I tried to go to my gaia and the forums

Garbage

I haven't had any problems. I do this thing called "looking" when I click buttons.

As far as marketing goes, it's a terrible idea. It psychologically associates their product with the annoyance that comes with being directed to the wrong page. They won't get any sales off of it, because people will just navigate away.
