I'm Christian and support gay marriage. The hardcore, fundamentalist Christians take every part of the Bible literally, to be irrefutable divine truth. By their reasoning, if everything in the Bible is to be taken as truth, none of them should be eating shellfish or wearing clothing made from two different materials either. emotion_awesome

Jesus said the two most important commandments are to love God and love others. Taking away the gay community's right to get married is not love, it's hate.

If you guys wont respect my opinion and what i think is right... then alright. I'm gone. Bye. I thought this forum was a place to express my views.

It is. But it's also where we express our views on your views.

If you want your views to be taken seriously and valid, you gotta come armed to the party, sister. You gotta have a basis for them, and you gotta be ready to defend them if you express them.

Originally, i wasn't going to post because I knew i would get lots of hate since many people on gaia are homosexual. It's not that I can't handle my own arguments but honestly its just that this 'argument' would go on forever. Gaia is not my life and i dont have time and the patience to keep responding to people. There would seriously be no end, because you strongly believe in what you believe... and i strongly believe in what i believe. This argument was pointless to even start since i knew it would never end. And I'm not sorry to you but im sorry to myself. I shouldn't have wasted my time here posting what I believe in even though the person who started the forum asked. Kay guys, see you around

Before anyone starts shooting me down for expressing my opinion. One of the problems with gay marriage as that they tend to choose to get married under a certain religion, which to me is just plain wrong. I have no problem with gays being together or being married but I've never heard of a God that allows them to get married in their church or mass.

Like I said, I have nothing against them, but everyone has their boundaries.

Same views, I respect their right to marriage, they should respect my religion. Some churches allow it but most don't. This is what our bible says, this is our religion they don't have to be married in a church they don't have to be catholic. Or they can be catholic, respect the bible, and get married somewhere else. My church welcomes all people, but we agree the catholic church is not a place for gay marriage.
You don't need to be married in a church. Marriage isn't a religious institution. The church part is just tradition. You can be married by a ship captain, a judge, etc etc.

Exactly, that's why I don't understand why people ganged up on him. Gadrick said he was all for it just not in churches. And that's understandable, its a religion based on certain things with certain views. Would you go to a Vegan's house for dinner and be surprised they don't want you to eat meat? They'll be your friend and love you, but they wont want you to eat meat in their house.

Sometimes, vegans and vegetarians aren't so tight-a** that if they invite someone over whom they know is not vegan/vegetarian themselves, that eating meat and byproducts such as cheese is verboten. Sometimes, they are decent human beings, and will buy something that their guest will/can eat, or respectfully ask their guest to bring something (say as for a barbeque, and the guest can bring their own brats, hot dogs, or burgers).

What, so if a homosexual happens to be Christian for example, and wants to get married in a church setting, or have a religious ceremony, they shouldn't be allowed to? neutral

The guy said that even churches who DO recognize same sex relationships shouldn't be allowed to, that's the problem.

Haters gonna hate.
Haters, by the way, can go f**k themselves.

I'm straight, but I support gay marriage because I support love in all its forms.

I have a big issue with that attitude. If he doesn't want to marry them then that is fine and dandy, he doesn't have to and shouldn't have to. But he also doesn't, and shouldn't, have the right for an absolute ban from any religious institution that does agree to do it.
