Without reading anything else in the thread, I'd just like to say that this was considered a horrible thing to have happened in an army camp.

But more people die in major cities than in army bases every year, or so I'm hypothesizing without citing sources.

So, I believe this was an isolated incident that shouldn't be taken to seriously, as far as creating policies goes.

Have they ruled out that he might have been secretly working for Al Qaeda?

You mean al CIAduh? Lulz

I'm still curious if there's been any actual legitimate attacks by al Qaeda, as so much of the stuff pinned on them turned out to be someone else(like the 2001 Anthrax attacks)

This is probably going to open up some bad shitstorm, I was talking about it today with some of my co-workers. It seems to me it's just another isolated incident, it's just the one that scares everyone. I mean, if you look at the last 20 years in crazy shooters, it seems like your biggest similarities is that almost all of them are men and most of 'em are crazy. Not to say that men are more likely to shoot people, but I just can't remember the last time I heard about a woman going on a shooting spree or bombing people. C'mon, gender equality much? Kidding. Really.

Only proves what I been saying: America can bubble wrap itself all it likes we are still touchable and we are never untouchable ever.

If someone wants to cause harm they will nothing will stop them. All this airport safety and warning levels are meaningless.

Exactly.

They put themselves in harms way. It found them. It's certainly jarring how it found them, but throwing a shitstorm over it degrades the reasons why they were there.

The guy just has some severe psychological problems which probably go way back. They won't attempt to ban an entire religion from the military just because of a lone psychotic gunman who does not represent the religion's majority by even a small margin. This was an isolated incident, so no point in blowing it out of proportion.

While I hate myself for thinking it I agree that if you're at war with someone country, group whatever, and you have people in your armed forced that could possible fall into that category, then you gotta be careful. Obviously not all of them are bad, but the potential is there for people to join with the intention of doing bad things or existing members changing minds or whatever.

It's 43 people. You don't create new policies over the deaths/wounding of 43 people. That kind of thinking leads to very rash, ergo stupid, decisions.

You are the ones who only trust the military with firearms. wink

BBC said he had mental issues and wasn't happy about being sent back to the mid-east to fight as they had ordered him to do and had wanted to leave the army, and also the link below says he was taunted by others in the army after 9/11. So my question is

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SOURCE (even from Faux News) WHICH SAYS THIS WAS A RELIGIOUSLY MOTIVATED ATTACK?

Or perhaps it was just a dude who didn't want to stay in the army after his time was up but they wouldn't let him go (you know they can do that), and who was teased because of what he is - and then couldn't handle it anymore much in the same way the OTHER virginia tech shooter couldn't, or the columbine kids couldn't?

And after what happened on 9/11 we practically let even those fromthe enemy country fight with us why dosent that make sence to me. Pretty sure we didn't take Japanese in or former Nazis in during the other wars I mean WTF guess our government is trying to kill us off for ******** sake I was in fort hood just 2 months ago!!!!!! Honestly who's idea was it to let people from the war zone in our military?

The guy is an AMERICAN with parents from PALESTINE - not a country that America is officially at war with. While in my opinion Palestinians have every reason to be a bit pissed off at America, this American guy is not from "the war zone". As for earlier wars you seem to have missed that you did in fact let Nazi scientist in droves work for your military.

The problem is located in the new account of the gunman allegedly spouting the famed cry of "Allahu Akbar!"

The famed Nazi rocketeer, Wernher von Braun was employed by our government to beat the Soviet Union in the "space race." He was stationed at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.
