I don't care how people behave in their personal lives (usually caveats regarding raping/killing/assaulting/etc. apply), so I'm not going to pass judgment on internet dating. But I wanted to add that dating in real life is not 100% safe either.
I agree... Sheesh people will go up to a girl/guy they never met before and ask them out on a date. Why is that more safe than meeting someone you talk to everyday? People are just to sucked into their own fears to actually see the situation clearly. Of course the person could be a psycho but yeah guess what there are just as many or probably more psychos that don't use the net for dating and are living near you. lol
Seriously. Dating is terrifying. If an ugly guy hits on me, I assume that he's a rapist. If an attractive guy hits on me, I assume that he's a sociopath. (I know, I'm superficial. And paranoid!)
Of course, being as cautious/paranoid as I am has its downsides. When I finally met someone that struck me as trustworthy, I was so excited that I was in his bed three hours after meeting him. Luckily, my first impression of him was accurate as I'm not currently in little pieces in the back of his fridge.

EDIT: I'm well aware of the fact that dating online is not 100% safe. Cause it's not. But it's the person's fault if they take a risk to be in one.

I don't know what's with the myth about online dating. You can still get abducted from the street. I wouldn't say online dating has no flaws, but it's not as bad as people [especially the media] makes it seem.
