Well, COULD God create people from dust if he wanted to?

Why would anyone make a religeious text where people had to constantly guess and assume. Makes no sense. It's counter productive. People try to find alot of hidden meanings that just aren't there.

If human beings were never given the chance to think for themselves then they would grow to be counter productive beings. To challenge a person to think is to ask them to use their mind productively, denying anyone of that by giving them all the answers up front would be as bad as chaining them down and sewing their mouths shut.

Religion is created by humans to "control" other humans because they can't handle the truth.

I think the old testament was misleading in general. The God of the old testament was cruel and unforgiving. The people of the old testament were sometimes equally as cruel. stare

Of course, the old testament made women either evil or stupid too. stressed

I guess what I'm trying to say is the old testament can really give people the wrong idea. The new testament is a lot more peaceful. 3nodding

....This is why some Christians annoy me, you can't pick and choose at your religion...I mean you CAN but you shouldn't.

It's like saying oh well I'm not going to dwell on the fact that my neighbor is a childmolester I'm going to focus on the happier aspects of him, like....he makes great blueberry pie YUM!!! And....because of that the fact that he tried to rape my little brother means nothing biggrin lalalala

lol...

If it's GOD, and truly the creator of all things,I don't think he would NEED the dust in the first place.

And speaking of us being of dust, actually, wasn't every particle of matter once part of a star? I know this isn't reliable, but I'm pretty sure i heard it somewhere...
Anyway, if you go with the big bang theory, everything started as the same thing. Essentially, the only difference between one material and another is the atomic structure, and the number of protons, electrons and neutrons in each atom. In theory, dirt, and the elements that it is made up of, with the correct alterations of atomic structure, could become a combination of hydrogen and oxygen- water, or it could be rearranged to become the elements that make up living human skin tissue. In theory, that is.

Ow.
Santa Baby coats are sexy.

OP:

How about the obvious: Everything else in the bible is a ripoff of another, older faith. The story of humans from dirt = humans are the children of the Earth Mother.

Just another of those plagerisms to draw in people of non-christian faiths.

I'm talking the god in the bible. The ten plagues guy. Father of the dude who turned water to wine, and healed people, and made everyone lunch that one time.

If that's the same dude, I figure he could make people out of dust, cause he can do anything he wants. Well, since, he can, who's to say he literally didn't?

Because there's no evidence that he did actually create ten plagues or that he really did turn water into wine or healed people.
The Bible says that he healed people, just like the Bible says he made man from dust.
So the truthfulness of him creating man from dust is as true as him doing anything else, certainly not literal.

Well then I missed the point of the thread. I thought it was about believers in the bible who didn't think that God literally created man from dust, but that was a metaphor.

My only contention is that if you believe that the god of the bible is an omnipresent omniscient being who can do literally anything, and he has the ABILITY to create people from dust, who's to say he didn't?

I agree. How do we know the bible wasn't made by some bored teens?Oh a monkey could have made it!i have never read it and i don't plain on doing so.The only bible lessons i get is from my Christin s.s teacher. When we're talk about different realigns she tells us something about god or a atory from the bible.Todays story was about some little Shepperd boy killing a big monster. The lesson size don't matter. But anyway!!!!!!!The bible is there anti-drig. xp
