...it's easy, without too much fooling, to pass for cultured in our ranks.

Cartesian philosophy places human thought in a rather high esteem.

Why wouldn't He mislead His beloved creations? When I write a story I don't rub it in the characters faces that I made them.

That's a different situation, as you control everything the characters do... in fact, they don't even exist.

But still. Yes, I would assume you don't rub it in your characters faces. But would you punish them for not believing in you even without any evidence? And with evidence for previously unknown phenomena having a natural explanation, aka not "God did it"? (Assuming the characters exist and have free will)

How different is it, really? If I write "Timmy chooses a Pepsi over a Coke", do I choose it or does Timmy choose that? I say free will is an illusion, and that God made the world for His entertainment. To Him we really are nothing more than just characters in His story.

If you write "Timmy chooses a Pepsi over a Coke", then you form a mental image of someone named Timmy choosing a pepsi. Timmy doesn't actually exist.

Now, if you were writing that down as an observation of an actual person named Timmy, then Timmy is real, but you're not controlling his actions.

Also, even if free will is an illusion, and God controls everything we do, people still feel pain. Why would you punish someone for not believing you exist if you control what they do?
If it's just for fun / the sake of it, then we're not really his "beloved" creations.

That's only from our perspective because we lack the ability to create as God can create. But the relationship is the same. And with that same idea, an author will kill off his characters in his stories, but that doesn't mean he doesn't love his characters. That's something I can relate to, being a writer myself.

But was that not a part of proof that God exists and he is not a deceiver? ^.~

2012 is a lie.

NOT. SHOPPED. And yes that is Michael Jackson.
So you're saying that God, the creator of the entire universe, who must comprise of an infinite amount of your lifetime's experiences put together, then multiplied by another infinity and so on and so forth, was so petty that He decided to somehow "test" humans on their faith by giving evidence that rests solely on the fact that scientists have been able to determine these bones as being older than what an infinitesimal fraction of the human population thinks is when the Earth was created? Based, mind you, on some book from the Middle East? You really think that the vast, unfathomable grandeur of the Universe was made by the same egomaniacal, narcissistic douche who would hide dinosaur bones in order to test paleontologists?

You really need to start giving God more credit.

OHHHHHHH, God, you're a troll? Jesus, after how many years of my own trolling and I still can't catch the good ones. I'm out of practice!

I wouldn't be so pro-trolling if I didn't think that the trolls and the trouble-makers are the only honest people on the internet. If not that, then at least the only ones worth listening to.
If everything is a trap.. Then...

Well, ain't life a b***h?

A: 2012 is a lie
B: i think that the seven days that refers to god making the earth in the bible really happened over thousands of years

Seriously, I couldn't think of anything to name this, but it fits. I saw a picture a while back, one of those motionvational pictures. It had a picture of dinosaur bones on it, and at the bottom it said "And God scattered dinosaur bones all over the world and thought it was funny". That got me thinking, maybe God put things on the earth to make us choose between our faiths. Think about this, maybe God made monkeys close to humans to see what we as humans will do, will we dismiss it, or say that we 'evolved' from monkeys and wasn't created by God himself.

I believe God has set things in the world for us to find and to test us, I think that 2012 is a trap as well (Even though I didn't mention it in that post I made a few minutes ago).

What are your thoughts by this? Do you think it's a possible trap by God himself. Even if you don't believe in God, do you think it could be possible.

You mean, like the prankster god? In that case, no, I don't think it's really possible.
