The head of Iran's elite Quds force is reportedly visiting Syria to advise the regime on repressing protests and the armed resistance, as consternation grew in Western capitals on Thursday about Iranian and Russian meddling in the crisis.

One of the top headlines today is that Iran is now actively assisting Syria on a number of fronts in their brutal massacres going on which have killed over 6000 people recently. Reports indicate Iran is providing some of it's senior military leaders to help in the war room with Syrian president Assad, as well as provide Quds and Hezbollah forces, intelligence gathering etc.
Meanwhile Russia openly is selling arms to Syria and blocking any UN resolutions
The West intervened in Libya when there was only the threat of a full out massacre. Here, well over 6000 have been killed: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/syria/9066804/Graphic-Death-toll-in-Syria-reaches-6000.html
Now people know me as a general anti war person, but ...
1. what options could work here other than the slow arming of Syrian rebels?
2. The bigger question, how does this effect the international spotlight on Iran and the possibility of a US/Israeli strike?
