I find no problem with interracial dating.

Your topic's name, however, bothered me. Most that transcribe such things, including though not limited to 'do this, else you are ____' often are themselves that insult, or find that insult appauling. If you are dating interracially, then I would suggest also becoming liberal on the matters of homosexuality and sexual preferences. Otherwise... You may be, in many eyes, a hypocrite and a fool.

Is this your first interracial relationship? It sounds like it must be for it seems the first timers are the ones who always have to ask us what we think of interracial relationships.

The thing I find most interesting is how some of those that don't date outside their race or claim to be equal opportunity daters, have said that those of us with preferences outside our own race must be racists. I've actually had that asked to me on this site. I am white, but have always had a preference for men with black skin. However, when we moved from the city when I was a kid to a nearly all-white county, I didn't have that opportunity (not our choice, dad was transferred in his job so we got stuck in yee haw, KKK, ultra-conservative "Cow" County). The three black guys in my high school were basically claimed by the few black girls. I married white, had kids, got divorced, was with a couple of white guys after that but then finally got the opportunity to be with a black man. Have never looked back. I don't think white men are awful, I'm just not attracted to them like I am to black men. Maybe it's due to my upbringing. My parents were interested in cultural diversity before it was the "thing" to be into. My mom had told me she thought the that blacks were the most beautiful race of people. My first "you show me yours, i'll show you mine" game was with a black boy living next door to us in the summer (when we were still in the city).

People date and marry who they are drawn to. Preferences don't matter. Just don't call me racist because of my preference. I don't call others who date within their race that. No one should be looked down on for who they have a preference for. Diversity makes the world go round.

I think that your creation of this thread in and of itself seems that you are questioning your own relationship with that someone you want to be with. Is race really that much of a problem for you? It shouldn't be.

Race, in and of itself is an ILLUSION! It does not exist except within our imaginations as Americans (or anyone that identifies themselves and others via race)!

So I say forget the stares, the odd looks, and your apparent "uncomfortable" feeling about interracial relationships. If you're happy and confident in what YOU believe, not what SOCIETY believes, then you're one step closer to a very happy relationship because you are asserting that there is nothing wrong at all with the RELATIONSHIP you are in (NOTE: It's not an INTERRACIAL RELATIONSHIP, just a relationship). Why treat it any different from what most people consider "NORMAL." Whose happiness is more important? Yours or society's?

On the second part of your title, I shall disregard it in hopes that the beginning of your title was legitimate and serious.
