The whole point of gaia, at least as they claim, is to be who you want to be w/o reality getting in the way- so if you're an AB/DL/whatever, well, it'd be nice to have items to express that! I don't know to which group I beling- I'm ecelectic and kinda flitter in between. I'm a bit of an otaku and a bit of a goth. Not so much on the furry side (more on the scaley side w/ the naga skin ^^), but I do think ABs get too much flak. Yes, it's an unusual fetish and not everyone is into it, but if they don't like it, they can just ignore it. I mean, if you don't like something that's accepted by mainstream society, then we're told to STFU, so y can't they?

I honestly thought the first ever pacifiers they'd release would have been aimed at ravers. *B/DLs don't seem to be catered for in GAIA's user demographic. A real shame too, really, considering *B/DLs tend to be awesomely social and word gets round quick if something cute is released in any form whatsoever..

I'd say, is not because of those who are social, who are many and who are usually good folks, but those who are, for lack of a better word, creeps. That is, because of those who choose to throw the fact of what and who they are in the face of others and who choose to take the fetish as something only sexual and something which everybody must accept and embrace, rather than something which is best enjoyed privately and with kindred souls, as it were. Does that make sense? Basically, of course there are tons of nice and social and outgoing *B/DL folks out there. The problem is that they are smothered by the ones who are evil. <_<

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree there. Other people just can't handle who we are, mainly because of the connotation that in some cases children ARE involved, even if it is a very very very small and rare occurrence. Unfortunately though, such occursion happens to be within a lifestyle/fetish which involves the items of a childish persona, thus making it stand out more.

Any fetish could involve children, just it's easier to connect children to diapers than it is to connect children to leather bondage, so I guess, in that sense, it makes us easier targets, resulting in us restricting outselves to our own communities.

Honestly, I'd say we're the only community NOT catered to in a majority of things. Even video games generally include some sort of kinky outfit or animal ears/tail as an alternative costume. It's frustrating in the long run.

MM... I don't know that I agree. I think you'd be hardpressed to find representation for any sort of hardcore fetish community. There are myriad examples, of course, of the bunny ears/kitty ears in Anime and games, but do you think that the creators of those games are thinking "Hey! Let's put these ears on this girl to attract more fur communitymembers into our audience!" or, more likely "Hey! Let's put these ears on these girls because it's cute!" I think that they're doing what they do irrespective of any fetish or extreme roleplay communities, not catering to any specific one.

But that's just my view on it. ^^;;

It's a fact that the loudest members of any community are usually the worst examples. Unfortunately, many people don't realize this. Coupled with the fact that the good members of the community aren't loud about it, many people link the "creeps" to everyone else in the community, as those "creeps" are the only people they know of from that community. Eventually, if they see more loud members, it gets ingrained that the whole community is bad, and they refuse to see otherwise. >.>

Sadly, the community also must combat with the general prejudice of a fetish or predilection dealing with something that is construed as being implicitly childlike which, combined with the self-outing of the fetish folks, basically paints the whole *B/DL community as being on the level with *****, which we both know is totally bunk. But what can the community do to combat this? Policing each and every *B/DL site has shown to be nearly impossible. They're tasked with the double whammy of keeping children from those sites (if and when there is any sexual material on the site) for the protection of the owners AND keeping the ***** off of the site for the protection of pretty much everybody. It is a failure to do this which pretty much turned DPF into a warzone. It is an unwillingness to do this why anybody and everybody should avoid Deeker's, because the FBI is probably watching them.

Yeah. The only hope we have is to take it person-by-person, and show those who are curious and have open minds that we're not all so bad.

As for Deeker, I've heard that someone has recently been arrested for something that they put up on there. So yeah, they're probably being looked into. >.>

I don't think of you as a d**k or anything. That's a perfectly reasonable question to ask. n.n;

As for my personal story, when I was 6 or so, I had an errant thought that it would be more convenient to just wear diapers and such. That eventually turned into a liking for them, and a want to wear them again. Soon, I realized that most other kids my age didn't think things like that, and thought of myself as odd and different. After finding this thread, and the community in general, I began to accept myself for who I am, and discovered a little regressive side of me. So for me, it was a case of an interest blossoming into who I am now.

Also relevant is that I still watched kid's shows into the second or third grades, and only forced myself to stop liking them when I realized that everyone else had moved on from them. D:

Well, I can only speak for myself and actually I suspect it DID, but damned if multiple shrinks and even time in the actual bedstrap palace yielded any revelations about it.
