I have an infantilist friend on Gaia. He's been accused (from what I've seen) of having a "sick fetish" or a myriad of other things. I see nothing wrong with infantilism. It's the way someone is born and they can't change it.
*shrugs* Whatever. No offense, but I do find it a wee bit odd, and I would never do it, but to each his own. I've got some very strange habits myself. Part of being human, I guess. Just as long as no one is getting hurt and you can function in society it's your life.

I see nothing wrong with it. my opinion is that you can do whatever you like up until you harm someone else. if acting like a child makes you happy i say go for it.

Yeah, that's how I see it. ^_^

If it involved hurting someone...I would completely stray from it...No one deserves to be hurt or in pain.

But I know not everyone believes infantilism is 'Okay'.

How about everyone else out there?
I kinda think it's cute... ^_^;;

This is why I'm confronting it. I want to see why these people that think it's 'sick' see it that way along with discussing the pros and cons of living and acting that way.

Even as we type, i'm drinking warm milk and honey from a bottle...
And I'm settled and content. ^_^

Hmm, I don't know about your last sentence...
I think I chose to be how I am...But I don't know.

Could anyone find evidence on what CAN influence infantilism?

Any links will be ammended to the first post after having been checked over.

I'd say infantilists, on the most part, can handle society alot better than most 'normal' people as we've had to grow up rapidly and mature more.

To be an infantilist...We have to mature...Because if we know what mindset we are in, we need to know the precautions and things we need to be careful of.

Basically...We have to mature to regress,

We should talk more. ^_^
I don't really care either way. To be honest I probably playfully make fun of it around him. I don't have an interest in it, but what ever floats your boat.

Make of whom?

Would you rather not hear of it? Innocence through arrogance, kinda thing?

I could tell you his name if you want. And also the name of someone who called him a weirdo when he put his baby avi in the arena. But I don't know if he'd want that.

As for causes of infantilism, I believe it's sort of like homosexuality, (not in a perverted way); in that it's something you can't truely change. Though I don't think there are many studies on the subject.

And milk is absolutely deligtful, maybe not with honey though. xd

Maybe you'd like to PM his name on to me then? That way it'll be good for him to have others to talk too. ^_^

Infantilism? Not changed and is something you're born with?

Ah...The old pyschology/sociology debate.

Nature or nurture?

Any ideas people?
Some people believe infantilism is wrong and incorrect.

Some people believe that infantilism is even somewhat peadophilic.

Some people believe that infantilism is just sad and stupid.

Being an infantilist myself, I would like to discuss with you all my reasons for which I enjoy it, I am willing to take on all criticism as long as it is constructive, and i'll TRY to answer all questions to the best of my ability. Now...I'll give you MY best definition of infantilism:

Infantilism is the act of having the mindset of a chiild or roleplaying out the act of a child at a much younger age. (Usually below nine...Anything past such is usually referred to as age play.)
Infantilism consists of different elements for each infantilist.
Now, I will try to address some of the items what make it special for an infantilist and why some infantilists may enjoy it.

Pacifiers: Many infantilists (Like myself) take great security and find safety in sucking a pacifier. For some it is because of an oral fixation, and for some it is just all part of being an infant.

Diapers/Nappies: Too many infantilists, they may remember the love put into the application of such items...The feelings, the love, and just the general idea of it. For some, the dirtying and wetting of a diaper is a major turn on, these come under two categories:
Coprophilia - A paraphilia in which sexual arousal is attained in connection with feces. (From the Greek copros, meaning "dung." wink
Urophilia - A paraphilia in which sexual arousal is associated with urine.
(Thank you to Mallow Nimbus for finding this information out for me.)

Clothing: Many infantilists find comfort and innocence in the clothing...For some its all just about the look.

TV Programs: Depending on the regressed age of the infantilist and maturity of the real person, this can vary, programs can vary, and as their are too many programs to mention, i'll not give examples...Though for many of us, the bright colours and odd elements of such programs are quite attractive and entertaining...Much like any of you watching a drama or a documentary.

Cribs, cots, strollers, toys ETC: For some, the fixation with toys is all part of the fun and can tie in with the TV programs. Strollers are a rare fixation as are cots/cribs. These are usually for those lucky enough to have found a 'mommy' or a 'daddy'.

To make it easier to understand, I have decided to define 'mommy' for you, this can easily be changed in the basis of a 'daddy'.

A mommy is a person who will 'take care' of the infantilist in a manner which is desired by both parties, this mommy is rarely a legit mother, but usually a sexual partner or a VERY close friend, in the rare cases of teens who have come out about it, it's possible to be a nanny, a legitimate mother or a surrogate mother...And in quite a few cases, a friends mother.

Now. What I'd like to ask is:

How do you view people like myself?

And before you judge my needs and likes. Here is some general information about me:

I am 16, own three of my own business', have an active social life, was never sexually or mentally abused and am what most would consider normal being a college student studying both BTEC computing and CISCO Networking.
My interests in infantilism are: Pacifiers, TV Programs, fuss, love and attention.
I DO NOT have issues, as proved by several psychologists and psychiatrists whom I have spoke to about this subject.
My involvement within this activity varies from about an 1-2hours a day and usually sticks to my own bedroom. It usually consists of me watching TV programs at about 6am to 7am and sucking a pacifier to get me off to sleep.
Out of the home, my activity sometimes extends out to giddiness and clingyness, I DO NOT have any interest in strollers or baby like toys. My infant age is '4'.
I have considered diapers and am still willing to try them, I don't know if I could bring myself to USE them, but the idea of the comfort of wearing one fascinates me and I know the only way i'll find out is by wearing one.

Now, I hearby claim this discussion thread to be open!

Topic of the thread: Is infantilism wrong and if so, why?

That made no sence what does it mean??????
Dear..dear.. I can't really become opinionated in this subject. Personally it does seem a bit odd but if it's what floats your boat go for it.

It may not make sense because you can't even spell the word sense.
I do enjoy acting like a dumb fourth grader and doing stupid things ( like smacking everybody's head) but I guess that is a different thing

I'm personally fine with you sucking dipers or something like that.
However the "mommy" concept is a bit... discomforting.

I mean, we teenagers tend to be against our parents for a reason; so we would want to get away from them and learn to live on our own.

Obviously, I don't like anything that counteracts the laws of nature that had done so well for past four billion years.
to me you are view of as a valued member of society with his/her own opinion like everyone else, most people such as myself have hidden fetishes never to be revealed sweatdrop for fear that society as a whole will shut them out, but you seem too intelegent to be prone to such "childish" manors (sorry for the pun it popped in my head before i relized haha) well pun aside, one part i can say is passafires (sp?) are still sweet and rock on for that, and other things you mentioned arent really that bad O_o; but i suppose that depends on your point of view right? of course it does.
