It's funny at first to see both sides either bitching about it or drooling over it. Then it gets annoying. It's a book, a book which has no evolving plot.

I hated the so-called "saga" and I used to go on about it at school and friends would just say "shut-up". But yeah, I stopped my whining and all that. Yes I agree, people are taking it overboard.
I only read them to see what the all the fuss was about, as it turns out.... stare
The movie was bearable though.

It doesn't exactly matter if kids are reading or not. It's the content that they are reading. These books are teaching children that it's OK not to brush up on your writing skills, seeing as the author lacks many of them. As I said in the GD, the concept is decent, but I believe the story would have been better if it was written by someone with talent of captivating the reader as well as showing them how to be a good writer. If reading is how children learn, then shouldn't our society show them how to write properly? Honestly, it's like throwing a book called "Being a Nazi is Fun" at children, and expecting them not to take something from it. A child's mind is susceptible to anything thrown at them from a young age. Should we really allow children to believe that they can become millionaires off of a fluke instead of hard work?

Well, the book was a BEST SELLER supposedly, so i'd think she got a lot of money off of it. I honestly don't see anything wrong with the book. I think people at both ends of the argument that go to extremes are equally strange & annoying. In my opinion, it's a book, read it or don't and then stfu about it.
This is pathetic. The people who hate it are more annoying then the people who like it.

Amen.
Hitler's book was a bestseller. Just sayin'.

I thought the books were alright, at first. Just alright. Before they were super popular.
Then I re-read them, and looked at fans and antis, heard of stories, met the fans. Looked at both sides' points and all that.

Yeah. No thanks.
Have you met any of the twelve year olds who think a guy creeping into their room and watching them sleep at night is okay (and romantic?) because of Twilight? Or girls who start screeching about 'raiding' your group because they can't believe you don't like the book and calling you losers and pathetic, etc. (and other totally awful things) for disliking a book? Read/heard their comments ... heard of Cullenism?

I know there are sane fans. I've met them. Some are my friends. smile
But this series-not SAGA-is not worth all the hype and I just wish people would move on because Meyer isn't a god, the books aren't that good, the movie wasn't, and I can't stand all the insane fangirls who outnumber the sane.
Everyone keeps saying it'll blow over. No it won't. It'll just get worse. I really, really hope that some other up-and-coming author who 'deserves' the spotlight (though none of us really deserve anything) comes along.
Because until Twilight, a lot of bad things didn't happen. >.>
oh .. and not that bad? Yeah, if you're a normal person who just reads the books and puts them down. But most don't.
And btw, YES Jacob is a *****. Imprinting on an INFANT is NOT okay. And 'oooh Jacob didn't have a choice' yeah, Meyer could've written it differently but she wanted everyone to have a (sick) happy ending. So basically, he IS thinking of her 'like that.' Renesmee or whatever is a lil' freaky infant who, although scary, has already been chosen by a TEENAGER to one day have sex with him and be his mate. Yeah. So romantic. So ... 'soulmate'-ish.
I feel awful for him--I write. I feel awful that Meyer would write a character with such potential but nobody can be 'as good as Edward' so she had to make him imprint on a freaking infant and destroy his character and all that. He WAS pretty cool. Really. It's gross. Think about it, people. It would be like me seeing a lil' baby boy and being FORCED by, say, 'God' to suddenly be obsessed with him and love him soooooooo much because one day, he'll be my husband/mate/lover.
Wrong much? Yeah.

Okay. I'm done, I promise. As long as I forget 'bout this thread.
I refuse to acknowledge this book's existence.

Dude the movie destroyed the book. I hate the posers who read the book after seeing the movie they need to be hanged/ scream

I talk trash without having read the book or seen the movie. The fans are ******** morons. Speaks leagues about the material. 3nodding
Said what i was thinking! =D
I'm neutral. I have friends who hate and friends who adore everything about it. Either way, it's just another book. Nothing to die over.

Twilight fans are stupid, ergo twilight is stupid? neutral
I've never read the books, so I've never really bothered forming an opinion on the topic. A quick look at the plots shows me that the series isn't worth my reading time, and the fourth book looks like it might have a number of plot holes, but otherwise I don't find it a big deal. I watched the first movie and enjoyed it. Honestly, I think people on both sides of the argument are annoying. I have friends who go on about how stupid they think it is and won't even keep an open enough mind to watch the movie, and I have friends who will rant at you for hours if you even mention not having read the series. People have their opinions, accept it and move on.
SHHHH, I am speaking!:

Defend the book all you want, the movie was terrible.
Only thing that made that movie bearable at all was the rifftrax (MST3K).

I don't doubt that the book was better than the movie, but I will argue that "sparkly superhero vegetarian vampires" makes absolutely no sense. neutral

But, people have different tastes and opinions.

I HAVE SPOKEN!
Honestly?

Twilight is just a big allegory for abstinence.

End of story.
Honestly... I read the books. I liked them before the whole fandom started. I compared the character to other people, too.

Then when the whole fangirls and such came, I disliked it. I admit, it's not "horrible" literature, but it could have been written better.

But.. as for the Twilight fans who think it's awesome to have a guy who will STALK you, and watch you sleep... maybe we should give them a reality check. Get some model, have them stalk and watch the girls... then do something that's a REALITY of stalking and watching you sleep... like those horror films.

"I'm watching you change clothes." "How come you won't marry me?" "I have a surprise for you". Just text message or IM them to the girls. xD
