Since when did fiction become a reliable source?
My thoughts exactly! When DID the Christian Bible become a reliable source?
never it still isn't
i'd like to see proof of such "god"
Do not question the ignorant

What if you died today (not believeing in god) and god sent you to hell , how would you react (keep in mind that hell is a place where maggots are treated better than humans) ???

and another question

Wouldnt it be easier to pray, read the bible, and go to church (which doesnt take
that much time) , rather than spend an eternity in hell ???

Some people think that hell is not a bad place to be but until you go there you will never know

i simply can't obey god out of principle... and if god is like the Christians say then i'm screwed simply because i cannot even force myself to believe in what they teach.

No i think if god truly does exist then he won't disagree with me on where i belong...

Pascal's Wager is a horrible reason to worship 'God'. He wouldn't appreciate you worshiping Him just so you can get into heaven. What foolishness!
Yep. Course, Pascal was right about one thing, acting as though you believe can cause you to believe over time.

My problem with Pascal has never been the selfishness of his approach but his complete denial of all other ********. I knew I should have worshiped Vishnu! rofl
If you live life well, don't sin, and hope that their is something afterward then you go to hevean, or rebirth.
Blind faith isn't my thing. Even if I went to Church and confession, seeing as I do not and cannot believe in God, I would be sent to Hell regardless.

Plus, I'm an a*****e and have probably sinned more in my 13 years than many adults have.
Srry non beleivers dont beleive in your what ifs nice try though have fun beleiving something cools going to happen just cuz you die no srry angain no celebrations over death either now back to work. twisted

yea sure doing all that stuff would be easier, but God would know your not doing it out of love for him and just trying to avoid hell and knows that you dont believe in what the Bible says and what they say in Church. i for one used to be an atheist and completely understand why people would be (im a believer now though)
im partly catholic though disagree with things the bible says (such as anti-homosexuality and God being perfect)
and usually atheists were raised to be atheists and its very hard to believe the opposite when he were raised to not believe

So believe out of fear? But if you're believing out of fear, you're not really believing, are you?

Maybe believers go to Hell. Who knows.
well if you just went to church and read the bible because it was "easier" then spending an eternity in hell then theoretically if you believe in god you are lying to him and isnt that worse then just being yourself i personally do not believe in god because if there was a god like the type christians and catholics believe in then why is there so much more grief the joy in the world and in some religions arent they just using god to make what they are doing not look horrible like those people who have 40 wives "in the name of god" if god wants you to rape young girls thats pretty messed up
Doesn't the bible say that the Christian God is a loving God and father to us all?

How is it loving to send someone to a place where they'll be tortured for eternity, just because they wronged him? Sounds like a hypocritical sadist to me.

If any of you ever had a kid, and did like the God that would send people to hell for the "wrong-doing" of misbelieving.. You'd say to your kid "If you don't behave, I'd have to throw you on the burning grill. But I really don't want to do it!"

You'd be thrown in jail and lose child costedy before you could sing any praises to God.

If God does exist, and he actually is so "loving" as that... Then I say there's no point in him existing at all, since we'd never need any entity that is capable of such.... evil actions.

Seriously. If God is like that, then you don't need to fear the Devil. Why have the Devil when you have a God capable of doing something like that?

If there really is a loving God that Christ preached about, then you don't need to fear hell at all, as long as you're a good person.

I'm an agnostic, just for your information.

I'd rather not be with someone who cannot accept me for the good I have tried to do in this godforsaken world. If "god" sends me to hell, merely because I did not put my faith into him so be it.

I don't think I need to post a comment on this topic, all you other lovelies have already said everything I wanted to say.
Your proposition is essentially Pascal's Wager, and it's a false dichotomy.

God has ego issues if he has to make us feel fear of hell to worship him, really...
